“Centrist” is only a euphemism for “coward.” This is why centrism is recommended only for Democrats. They are supposed to roll over and play dead while Republicans sell off our democracy.

I finally understand the love affair between Trump & Stephen Miller. They have the exact same cat's anus masquerading as a mouth.

Virgin Monk Boy's avatar

The uncomfortable truth is that Stephen Miller accidentally named the weapon, he just uses it like a vampire with a law degree. “Federal law is supreme” can mean ICE cosplay raids and authoritarian theater, or it can mean the federal government finally stops letting red-state autocrats treat democracy like a suggestion box they can set on fire. Reconstruction failed because America got tired of defending freedom before the enemies of freedom got tired of attacking it. The next redo cannot be vibes, brunch, and another strongly worded norm. It has to be law with teeth, democracy with a spine, and a very clear message to every Jim Crow reboot artist in a statehouse: no, you do not get to gerrymander your way into permanent minority rule and call it liberty.

Carthago Delenda Est's avatar

But that's the thing.

This particular vampire isn't a lawyer. Doesn't have a law degree, just a BA from Duke. He never even took the LSAT.

Not that there's anything wrong with having just a BA. But this particular yutz isn't a lawyer, no matter how much he may cosplay as one.

Thorn Spike's avatar

I look forward to the day when a sentencing judge tells Stephen Miller, “Federal law is supreme and federal law will be enforced, and you have no say in this.”

<DURHAM, NH - Six in ten New Hampshire residents are worried about paying for gas and believe gasoline prices will rise over the next twelve months. Two-thirds believe President Trump is very responsible for the increase in gasoline prices. As gas prices increase, Granite Staters are less positive about their personal finances compared to a year ago and many expect to be worse off a year from now. New Hampshire residents are also downbeat on the national economy, as nearly half anticipate bad times over the next year and two-thirds believe the economy is getting worse.>

I am having a hard time following why someone who seems to care about improving Jewish/Muslim relations would even want a parade celebrating Israel in this time, in this place, anyway.

It feels like that Steven Miller photo has been up for weeks now.

The wind is blowing tonight, and the trees are fully leafed out so they’re swaying back-and-forth in the wind. It’s gray and overcast, which sounds dismal, but it’s really quite beautiful. There’s something elemental about a night like tonight.

They don't have a view. There's no mind there to have one. They produce responses that are more often negative of Jehovah's Witnesses than positive because the person doing the prompting is very unlikely to be one, and because few people outside of that religion have a positive view of it.

Hey Pete? 'Nother shot?

' Iran attacks damage 20 US military sites since start of war, satellite images show '

An analyst at MAIAR told BBC Verify that the US military "appears to have been guilty of a degree of early-war complacency" in failing to move aircraft out of the range of Iranian drones and missiles as Tehran's tactics evolved.

...

"The current conflict has consumed US and partner air defence stocks at a significant rate," she said.

"There is no rapid path to replenishment, meaning any renewed Iranian assault would be met a fraction of the interceptors available when the conflict stated."

What we need is a disingenuous, bad faith bullshit "ceasefire" so the military industrial complex can lay on a few shifts. Like 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 time.

"This means 𝘖𝘝𝘌𝘙𝘛𝘐𝘔𝘌!" the wage earners exclaim! And overtime withholding, because that's how life is.

"This means I can finally get that yacht for the other coast!" says the munitions maker and the venture capital behind him. Because that's how life is.

The incentives for war in general are obscured because they are inhumane. Eisenhower talked about it. The reasons for peace are obvious, but less profitable.

It's a reflecting Jen!'s avatar

I'd suggest peace is more profitable, in the long run. But most CEOs and therefore companies anymore don't give a rat's ass about long run anymore. It is How Much Can We Get Today.

Two things: 1. The airwaves are a PUBLIC GOOD and the FCC was created to manage that on behalf of the CITIZENS, and 2. Public interest is not subject to the whims of any one elected administration. Brendan Carr is a telco prostitute and Trump ball gargler.
