Ah OK. They ignore the employer contribution entirely, then, and also make no adjustment for the interest the fund earns since Ronnie required it to buy T-bonds.

Also no mention of the difference in life expectancy between people earning half the cap vs. people earning at or above the cap. That difference is significant.

Well, the board and the set of columnists are different things. The board, is of course, headed by Fred Hiatt though, so, hey, WaPo, your editorial board is bad and you should feel bad.

Fun fact: Soshecurity recipients on average get back everything they paid in after four and half years, if they live that long. That's the danger of Medi/Obamacare: people might live so long that there won't be enough "mortality credits" to keep funding the program. Plus the Illegals who pay in and never get anything back—if they get amnestized, they'll stop using fake SSANs.
