My older brother and I were discussing why so many people were against the first black female Vice President and realized it was because- wait- never mind.
I don't know anything about Kim Kardashian. I had a friend try to explain to me why she was famous and the only thing I remember is I think there was a sex tape in there.
Really, the only thing that could derail this nominee would be if Mancinema insist that they won’t vote for any nominee who doesn’t get bipartisan support.
The biggest bullshit among republicans is the assumption that no black woman could ever be as qualified as whatever white man they think rightfully deserves this seat. Biden hasn’t even picked a name yet and the party that treated the Gorsuch nomination like it was the rose ceremony on the Bachelorette and tried to put Harriet Freaking Meyers on the bench are declaring whoever it will be “unqualified.”
In a way doesn’t matte who Biden picks as the smears are already written. In the meantime, why wouldn’t they also get a few kicks in against Kamala Harris?
on the other hand i kinda want to see her confirmation hearing and her scream/crying like Boof did, just for the trolling (no, the VP should not resign and go join SCOTUS, ffs!)
I'll be honest, I can't name any Black women who might be qualified. I didn't think Kamala was either (I thought she was a cop). OTOH I couldn't name a single person regardless of race or gender who is qualified, COS IT AINT MY JOB TO!
I'll never forget Johnny Carson joking that President Reagan had complained to the Secret Service that some stranger was following him around town in DC. He held up a picture but there were only a few titters from the audience. "This is George Bush", Johnny explained. A few more titters. "He's the vice president!". Finally you could hear an "ohhhhh..." as people started to get it.
Made a post on my FB feed soon after the news broke preemptively reminding everyone that if you don't have expertise on which black female appellate judges were particularly impressive to please not make any suggestions as to whom Biden should appoint.
Don't fucking say "Kamala Harris". Don't fucking say "Michelle Obama". Just don't fucking do it. Don't play the "let's name a black woman I like" game. It's horrifyingly embarrassing.
