...evaluate a player’s wingspan? So my kid's supposed to compete against a kid with wings? That seems a lot more unfair than letting trans kids participate in sports.

I'm glad I'm not in school these days. I distinctly remember being outraged that it had ever been illegal to be a Communist. Not that I thought it was a good idea, but that outlawing someone's beliefs had been a crime struck me as the most unAmurrrikin thing on earth.

Humans do sometimes call the distance, with your arms spread out parallel to the ground, from the tip of your left middle finger to the tip of your right middle finger a "wingspan;" it is kinda odd but not unheard of. But hear me out; this is half way to a good idea. In competitions like track & field, skiing, swimming, wresting, etc which are individual competitions, why not just base competition classes on base physical characteristics like height & weight?

i definitely don't think sex is binary, but i think it's fair and accurate to say it's bimodal. i also think it's fair to say that sex is a biological (and more immutable) characteristic, as opposed to gender. however, because sex is the product of many factors together, some of which are not easily observed or measured (especially in social settings), the social construct of gender is what people are actually using to guide their social interactions with people.

but this recent trend of right-wingers acting like trans people think they are actually changing their *sex* or whatever is incredibly stupid.

And you play 2nd base.

He'll still get beat up for wearing it in Oklahoma.

Good idea, takes gender out of it so the wingnuts can't claim someone transitioned just to beat their kid in sports

I know I'm late to the discussion, but:

Because they represent choice, and people taking control of their own lives, and not binding themselves to what other people have told them is the "right" way to live. And people who have spent their lives following orders and supporting a system of rules and structure and still find themselves where they don't think they deserve to be in life? They fucking HATE that, because a person being true to themselves and challenging the "way things are supposed to be" reminds them of how they never exercised their own choices out of fear of what others might think or do to them if they did.

QFFT

I am copying that and will be using it. Thank you for being so bloody articulate.

Here in Washington state, a huge fuss was started when an 80 year old phobe at a YMCA pool raised a big stink about a trans woman escorting children to the locker room. It turns out the woman was an employee of the YMCA. She walked up to her and said, "Do have a penis?" The YMCA banned the 80-year-old bigot and she screamed bloody murder and a bunch of outside agitators showed up in this little town about how this poor helpless little old lady was being discriminated against by the woke liberals.

That's kinda what I say about the Q-turds. If a person truly believes that children are being raped and killed for their "adrenochrome" by a certain group of people, in his thinking it would be wrong not to commit whatever acts and violence necessary against that group to stop the torture, murder and mutilation of children. Pretty much anything would be justified in order to put it to a halt and protect the most vulnerable.

Also, the Holocaust didn't just start one day from scratch. The Nazis started small by kicking Jews out of certain professions like teaching and the courts and media. Jews were prohibited from competing on the German Olympic team. Brown shirts stood outside the doors of Jewish businesses and requested shoppers to go elsewhere. Jewish orchestra conductors were forced out of performance halls. Germany's Nobel Prize winners were prohibited from traveling to collect their awards, and theoretical science was ridiculed and prohibited from schools and colleges. The Germans built up the narrative of the evil Jews and then, as much as possible, eliminated Jews from German society. That's what our Nazis are doing, starting small, trying to raise anger against and shunning of their enemies. Then one day down the road they crank up the gas chambers and ovens.

If you ever feel like emigrating diagonally across the state, we're not quite so crazy up in the northeast.

Unless you go east of the urbanized part. Then, yeah, they can get kinda bug-fucky.
