Isn't explaining concepts like 'false equivalence' to these folks a bit like trying to teach a penguin to use a slide rule?

A convenient distraction from the fact that the American Family Association, WND, et al are more interested in fucking that chicken - again and again.

But being inside that bubble, and seeing it disintegrating (at least teh gehy one) must be disturbing. Especially as they are convinced that the lord god of hosts has commanded this and now belief in it is falling apart. They were sure this was a winner. The butt-hurt will be strong.

At least on this one, I think we're getting somewhere.

Last weekend I was down in San Jose for my older kid's housewarming party. Since I was staying over (now that they have a spare bedroom), I ended up there after the other medium-oldz had gone home, with me and ten or a dozen 20-25 year olds (two of which were my kids).

At one point, after the burgers but before the beer pong, I regaled them with the story of my ex-stepdaughter's wedding in Salt Lake, at which -- thanks to the Universal Life Church -- I was the officiant. I remarked that I was still kind of amazed that Utah let me do that, and one of the girls said something like "But you couldn't do that in California, right?". So I pointed out that yes, I could do that in California, and that I could have even gay married them in Cali, but not in Utah.

After some cross-talk, we managed to establish that the number of states allowing gay marriage was now 13. And the universal viewpoint was "Well, we're getting there". With a bit of relief that Cali was no longer a punchline.

Admittedly, this was a bunch of -- as far as I can tell -- hetero millennials, in one of the bluer suburbs of Amercia, but it made me feel damn good.

I feel like I should express my sympathy, or support, or good wishes to you. And I have all those things for you.

But I hope that people don't get distracted from the fact that what you are pissed off at right now is the motherfuckers who try to equate homosexuality with pedophilia.

I am not gay, and I wasn't abused as a child, and I hate those bullshitters almost as much as I hate actual pedophiles.

FWIW, five or six of the article authors post under their (presumeably) real names. For example, between Thursday and today, we've had articles from Alex Ruthrauff, Kaili Joy Gray, Gary Legum, Kris Benson, Jeff Wattrick, and, of course, Editrix.

Now, there have also been articles posted under a nom du Web. Several of them were from Dok Zoom. At this point, it would probably confuse us if he started using his RL name. We already know what he looks like as a pat of butter, so you know, no harm, no sour cream.

What is with these folks and their obsession with teh gehyz? It's like they have a huge belief system built around this imaginary "issue" and watching it fail is tearing them up. It's almost as if you can't be a stupid bigot anymore without people regarding you as a stupid bigot. OPRESSION!!!
