Sort of like Florida receiving all of the PPE it requested, while New York et al. went begging.

Catholicism isn't a basis for moral action to these black-robed clowns, especially Kavanaugh, Alito, and Thomas. It's an "us against them" badge, much like the folks who voted for that other clown, in the White House -- an excuse to feel resentful when their "religious rights" have been "violated," and a chance to be seen as pious by touting their membership in the "club."

But as something to practice in your day-to-day life? Forget it. Like Moscow Mitch, the only thing that this coven understands is money and power.

Don't forget the torches. (Just don't use tiki torches -- their reputation has been besmirched.)

Unfortunately, it's mostly made out of marble. Doesn't burn well.

My favorite line is from that third paragraph: "The Court would prefer not to [act], but when a lower court intervenes and alters the election rules so close to the election date, our precedents indicate that this Court, as appropriate, should correct that error." That reference to "our precedents" presumably means Bush v. Gore -- which, you know, said that sometimes the Supreme Court needs to intervene -- like when a Republican is in danger of losing an election.

Yeah, in a perfect world, both Gorsuch and Kegs Kavanaugh would be impeached and removed because their appointments were invalid (especially Gorsuch, who sits in Merrick Garland's seat). But as we saw during the late unpleasantness, the Rethugs in Congress wouldn't remove someone even if, as the old saying goes, he were found in bed with a dead girl or a live boy. So the only solution (which will, unfortunately, itself trigger a spate of one-upmanship) is to go to eleven justices -- allowing the current imbalance to be restored to where it should be.

There were news articles back in October, 2016 in which the GOP was already plotting that when Hillary won (as everyone -- even tRump -- assumed that she would) that they'd simply Merrick Garland every appointment she made, whether to the Supreme Court or lower court judges.

Walker was simply the most recent manifestation of Gingrich Disease -- i.e., the people in the other party aren't the opposition, they're the enemy; you can't merely oppose them, you have to destroy them, etc. The Treason Party is an apt description.

The court had no jurisdiction. The Constitution makes clear all voting is controlled by the state. However Congress can modify state rules or create new rules, but the executive branch and SCOTUS have zero authority here. Plus SCOTUS' reasoning was faulty and clearly twisted in order to take and rule on the case. SCOTUS has now gone off into the Right Wing Nut Job World. This is very, very bad and must be addressed.

Maybe we should twice-democratically elect a black man president and then he could choose a nominee for confirmation to serve on the court.

And there used to be 180 too. It's not just that there are too few -- it's that the Republicans ACTIVELY TOOK THEM AWAY.

We should still bring the tiki torches in case it's going to be buggy outside.

My republican dad was from Wisconsin (West Allis). I have fond memories of going to visit my grandparents as a kid (more than 50 years ago). I don't know what the politics were then because I didn't pay attention. But my dad wasn't an asshole republican, so I am guessing that back then republicans were not such assholes. Here's to beer and Fish Fry.

There are 5 polling places open in Milwaukee. 5!! A bunch are closed because they don't have poll workers. It's a complete cluster. Good for these people for going out anyway, but it shouldn't be this way!
