Well, there is also the fact that both of them are little more than complete fucking idiots and Lara is the leader of the stupid cunts for Trump group.

It still sounds like Koch / Kato or equivalents talking point to divide the left. Sure, maybe there is validity to id and blame a stupid progressive but it's still working to splinter a faction of the left and hold them up for derision.

Like they say on the shampoo - rinse and repeat. Pretty soon various factions and sub segments are all 'rightfully' attacked and broken off. tada, no more political left.

The same people who foist these in-fighting points skip out on criticizing Mitch etal or in support of progressive ideas. <--that's the context that shows them to be PR agents and not good faith comments.

I was at Ramstein until I retired, got a GS job there for 15 more years and retired again. Only way I'm going back to the US is in a box, and that's doubtful.

As a reaction to 2016, at least in my area, people worked their asses off making sure that voters were properly registered and able to vote. Trump was a wake up call.

Unfortunately, these times and decisions further exemplify the weak point in our Constitution and point to the eventual downfall of it. Three separate but equal branches of government was the intent of the founding fathers. The failure lies in the one branch of that governmental body which exists without checks OR balances. Judicial appointment to the highest court in the land can be, and has been, corrupted a number of times. There is no redress to this institutional corruption except a process that takes possibly decades or generations to overcome. That process alone is extremely unlikely to occur within any one lifetime especially when one "political" unit has 'control' over the selection AND process of appointment to the one body of government which is given unequal voice. How does one petition redress of judicial decision in the highest court in the land? I can do so with the legislative or administrative branches of our government but the decision of the judicial is relatively cast in stone, answerable to no one. This is and always has been the weak point of our Democracy. This is the chink in the armor of an otherwise strong and healthy society and it is shown now to be the focus of attack that the "religious right" and Republican political faction knows they can utilize to attain their goals of societal control. One lone individual was allowed to have the say in the lifetime appointment of a Supreme Court justice which points to the loophole in that legislative body as well. There was no redress to that decision. Redress is an explicit right written into the Constitution but has been blatantly exempted in too many situations. ALL actions or decisions made by ANY division of government require the opportunity of redress and such redress must be given opportunity in a timely and non-prejudicial manner. Lifetime appointments were intended to remove political whim and pressure from the decision making process. Unfortunately, damningly, that process has been corrupted which has stained the intent of the Constitutional Congress. To override the decision of one single branch of our wonderful governmental experiment requires that we change the fundamentals of that self same governmental ideal and the basic tenet that document is based upon. This treatise is not a damnation of, but a pointed example of how an intended strength can become a weakness exploited by unscrupulous people bent on attaining their singular goals even at a cost of the institution they allege to hold dear. That the institution allows for that is the error that needs correction in my opinion. No single person and no single body should have the authority or right over generations of citizens of this great country.

Any updates on “justice” Thomas?

I remember being sworn in as a lawyer. It was in the First Department, in Manhattan, and the room was designed as a Temple of Justice.

I raised my hand and I swore to uphold the Constitution and the laws of New York.

Well, New York is still thumping along. We will probably become a haven for women who want to decide when or if they will be mothers and for people who are not cis-gender or heterosexual but who want to live their lives as equal citizens and we will still actually accord the vote to people whose skin is darker than a manila envelope.

What the Constitution will soon be held to mean, though, is quite - terribly - another thing...

It was 12% of the Bernie base, and no matter what excuses you make for them, they still voted for the racist / rapist asshole. None of Trump's bigotry or misogyny was a deal-breaker for them, but the surprising thing is that Trump was a plutocrat and still they were perfectly happy to vote for that.

Isn't the excuse for Manchin that he must because the voters demand it? Isn't it a good thing to draw the votes of your opponent to your side?

Wouldn't that suggest strength in the general?
