It’s an electro “Over the Rainbow” by German artist Marusha. Listen to it here: https://open.substack.com/pub/martiniambassador/p/over-the-rainbow-techno-style

If someone did a mash-up of that version and the one by Sam Harris, we would achieve nuclear fusion.

ALL the skandahoovians got in on that action, except the Finns and the Sami. Hard to believe that that titchy little peninsula between the North Sea and the Baltic used to rule not only Norway but all the relatively warm parts of Sweden, plus a hefty chunk bitten out of Britain (the Danelaw).

My kitten-boy just brought a bleeding, half-dead mouse onto my bed. He was all hunched over it like I was gonna make sure his sib didn't steal it or something. Ugh, boyo, put the poor little bugger out of its misery on the floor, please. I shut him and the mouse (that he hadn't dropped) in the bathroom. Either it'll escape or he'll dispatch it.

It is such a hit at work this morning, I give you free of charge, the Sweet Hot Chili Sauce recipe

feel free to add cranberries... :)

You need a food processor to chop up the bits just right, any chopper will do, no need to be fancy, I used the Ninja express chop which is like 20 bucks at Walmart

5 red hot chili peppers (no need for Thai). Cut the tops off and quarter them (don’t pull out the seeds!) – into the Ninja!

8 cloves of garlic either pressed or just skinned and into the Ninja

An equal quantity of fresh ginger skinned and cut into chonks and into the Ninja!

Put it on full whack until all the bits are tiny.

Get a saucepan

1 cup water

1 cup sugar

1 quarter cup red wine vinegar

All the good bits from the Ninja

5 TBSP Worcestershire sauce for umami flavor

Put it on medium heat until it starts to boil, then simmer and stir. As the steam comes off, it will slowly thicken. Keep cooking it so it continues to thicken and when the

Steaming becomes slow, take it off the heat.

You can use it directly on top of grilled chicken or pork, you can use it as a marinade, but I would NOT use it to cure pinkeye. Maybe get sweet and sour chicken from the Chinese joint and use this as a dipping sauce!

ENJOY!!

I feel like all this focus on Kissinger and his war crimes is taking attention off the accomplishments of Vladimir Putin in the field. How many invasions and genocides does a guy have to do to get some recognition?

Anne Speck's avatar

First, I believe Putin will have his day in hell; but second I believe there is an important thing happening in the conversation around Kissinger -- far too many Democrats have held him up as an exemplar of what the U.S.'s presence should be on the world stage (see H. Clinton, B. Clinton, and B. Obama's past statements about valuing his friendship and advice) without the barest acknowledgement that he was anti-democracy and created entire platforms of thought which excused indiscriminate killing of poor people and minorities. It is because of Kissinger that the US supported dictators in Latin America instead of democracies.

Felicity Huffman on college admissions scandal: ‘I had to give my daughter a chance at a future’ -

https://www.cnn.com/entertainment/felicity-huffman-college-admissions-scandal-interview/index.html

“It felt like I had to give my daughter a chance at a future … which meant I had to break the law,” Huffman told CNN affiliate KABC News in Los Angeles on Thursday.

"MSNBC draws backlash for canceling Mehdi Hasan show"

Welp...there goes the last vestige of legitimacy of the MSM...I always suspected that even MSNBC wasn't to be entirely trusted...

Medhi was the ONE GUY I pointed to to say that MSM wasn't ENTIRELY dead...and now it is...

DDB9000's avatar

Remember that MSNBC, as is NBC, as is Universal, are owned by Comcast, which is OWNED & RUN by a bunch of right-wing billionaires. ABC, owned by Disney - yep, right-wing billionaires.

I could go on, but NONE of the major networks are owned by liberals - period.

What happened was that when Rupert Murdoch bought 20th Century Fox, he did what the three main networks - ABC, CBS, NBC were doing. They were creating shows that skewed liberal. So the Dirty Digger, being a businessman first, created the Fox TV network (not cable, that came later).

No American network would give British comedian Tracy Ullman the time of day, but Rupes would, having been ensconced in UK media for ages.

And the Ullman show spawned ''The Simpsons'' and other similar shows, and also at a certain point Fox had FIVE SHOWS ON FEATURING BLACK CASTS when the other 3 networks had NONE. Rupes saw a void and filled it.

What I am trying to show here is that Murdoch made his money by putting on things that were popular with all sorts of people, not just boring old white people.

Of course once cable starting booming and CNN became popular, and Fox was an established name in TV, Murdoch was able to create the Fox News CABLE network.

So we have only ourselves to blame by accepting the LIE that the MSM has been liberal for decades.

IT HAS NOT

And this made it easier for rich, white, bigoted conservatives to snatch up the major cable and broadcast networks.

Mind you, to some extent they are just following Rupert's model. Let's give them 'liberal' TeeVee shows on over-the-air stations. Let's let them pretend that MSNBC is their progressive alternative, and now with the WarnerDiscovery right-wing über-bigot David Zaslov owning CNN, well, I think we've seen the results there.

So I am not surprised that they got rid of Medhi, whom with Ali Velshi and Rachel Maddow were/are my faves. And it was not important to me that two of them are Muslim, and one is a lesbian. I am neither. But they TELL/TOLD THE TRUTH.

I am an old, straight white guy, and I trust most of the other straight white guys in this country less and less every day.

"I am an old, straight white guy, and I trust most of the other straight white guys in this country less and less every day."

Same on all counts.

Thanks for the information. I had been wondering what the connection between Fox news and Fox network was. It just seemed so strange that one network would cover all those bases

So Cynical isn't it?

Expand full comment
DDB9000's avatar

Absolutely. One has to remember that like many, conservatives their main interest is making more money. Rupert Murdoch is one prime example of that.

In the 1997 James Bond film,''Tomorrow Never Dies'' there is a media mogul called Elliot Carver (clearly based on Murdoch) who manages through his Fox-like company to arrange a fight (based on false informantion) between the Chinese and the British, and as such Bond and a Chinese agent have to fight to prevent an all-out war.

It's actually a really good film and one that people that don't think this kind of thing could happen should watch and think what has actually happened since 1997...
