A Texas judge ruled that schools can regulate the length of men’s hair and force student Darryl George to cut his locs. They have suspended this kid, for months, and barred him from getting an education ... over his hair. What year is it?
The judge determined that the act did not violate the state’s CROWN Act, a law which prohibits race-based hair discrimination.
“The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that affirmative action is a violation of the 14th Amendment and we believe the same reasoning will eventually be applied to the CROWN Act,” Barbers Hill Independent School District Superintendent Greg Poole said in a statement that made me want to put my fist through a wall. Some folks may recall that I had to fire an employee 2 weeks ago and I was having feeeeeeeelings about it. Welp, that all changed yesterday when I found out that just before Xmas, this employee was holding forth in the lab on how white people should be allowed to use The N Word (though she was using the word itself), and that when a Black employee walked in, she just kept talking.
I'm now feeling absofuckinglutely fabulous about the fact that I fired her, and may her racist ass struggle to find a job ever again. I am, however, pretty pissed off at the employees who heard this and chose not to say anything until after the gal was fired...
