Women And Some Dumb Dude Mad About Stupid Thing

Sometimes, here at Wonkette, we accidentally kill feminism. For instance! Some of us just moved to Montana, FOR A MAN. (Shaking my damn head.) And once we made fun of babyfeminists, because they were Hitler. And apparently Wonket has PLUMB ADMITTED that sometimes sexness can include variations of no-means-yes WITH A PARTNER YOU ALREADY KNOW IS WILLING because of how you are partners and have already talked about it, sexy-like, WITH WORDS.

Well, we are about to #killfeminism for real this time, because we saw a stupid thing on the Internet, and now we are Mad About It, A Thing. 

A jumpsuit featured in [H&M's] Autumn/Winter collection drew comparisons to the uniforms worn by soldiers of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units battling Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The one-piece garment, which is being sold online in the U.S. for $19.95, was styled in an advertisement with a brown belt and boots. A Facebook commenter said: “At times like these, they choose to capitalize from the brave Kurdish fighters in Kurdistan. They should be ashamed of themselves!” On Twitter, Ali Najat Barzinjy added, “Wtf this is our traditional uniform it is not for every one.” And Amir M. Ashour said, “H&M, instead of being inspired by #Kurdish women #Peshmarga’s clothes, be inspired by their bravery & sacrifices. #TwitterKurds #stereotypes”

H&M APOLOGIZED. They apologized for "being inspired by Kurdish women's bravery and sacrifices," AMIR, and showing that inspiration in the manner they are accustomed, MAKING CLOTHES. Because of how THAT IS THEIR BUSINESS. And so they were like, "these women are BAD-ASS, and FIGHTIN' ISIS, maybe women would like to be inspired by and dress like them! Also, those jumpsuits are hella cute with a little styling!"

Also, AMIR, how is a knockoff of a military uniform a "#stereotype"? It is not, because you are mad about a stupid thing. Was there a stereotype that Kurdish women are all in the army? Wouldn't the stereotype (for Western eyes) be some fancied-up glitzed-out burqa with an H&M tag? THAT MIGHT BE OFFENSIVE (AND APPROPRIATIONING!). WE DO NOT EVEN KNOW IF KURDISH WOMEN WEAR THE COVER, BUT JUDGING BY THESE UNIFORMS, THEY DO NOT. A STEREOTYPE WOULD BE THEM BEING COVERED, BECAUSE OF HOW AMERICANS THINK EVERYONE IN THE MIDDLE EAST IS WEARING A HIJAB OR A NIQAB OR A BURQA, WE DO NOT EVEN KNOW THE DIFFERENCE! THAT IS WHAT A STEREOTYPE IS!
