I miss the non-pre-recorded WonkTV sessions, with the witty Greek chorus of Wonketteers in the sidebar. I understand that they are probably much more difficult to pull off due to time zones, scheduling, and perhaps YouTube weirdness. But I miss 'em. There, I said it.

People keep complaining that he hasn’t been muzzled.

I think the prosecution has declined to advocate for that, because he keeps confessing to the crimes he’s committed.

“Oh, you wouldn’t know them. They’re in Canada.”

SkeptiKC's avatar

I have yet to encounter any such regretful individuals.

And I vigorously second your hopes that this lawsuit prevails. These prudish curtain-twitchers have NO right to legislate their morality on the rest of us.

Mateo del Sol's avatar

As with any group, there likely are statistical outliers. And it's unfortunate if that's how they feel.

We know that's not the majority. The data provides indications to the contrary. Not that any of those assholes care.

Bindersfulohostbodies's avatar

We wouldn’t know them. They live in Canada. Lol

A great many people (adults even) decide to post things on the internet that they later regret. But the internet is forever and there’s no taking it back. They aren’t even outliers. We don’t make them see a psychologist for a year before letting them post. We don’t ask them to try out being that person who wants to post that thing, to see if they truly and genuinely feel that’s who they are. We don’t consult their parents. And, we don’t legislate their choices. We just let them be who they are, and give them access to what they need to achieve that.

Funny how it’s the pro-life people who want a Civil War.

Why has no one ever asked them what is the goal of their Civil War? What do they want to happen if they win? What would happen if they lose?

Journalism sucks in this country. They just take whatever republicans say at face value and never ask them any hard questions.

oscarphile's avatar

On the other side, performative anarcho-lefties who like to say "Burn it all down and start over." Even making allowances for hyperbole, what could they possibly be imagining?

The goal of many is documented in The Handmaid's Tale. That's the goal of many, but there is disagreement . The ultimate goal is Thomas Hobbes' nightmare: perpetual war of all against all.

Can we get bortions in gumball machines or taco trucks on every corner?

Because my woke daughter thinks they should be like the choice between black beans or refried in your tacos, just a totally normal thing.

I gently suggested that it might be a good idea to try to avoid getting pregnant in the first place, just to avoid the procedure, because you can, and she said "fuck that, you can decide to have sex knowing full well that an abortion is your only plan if you get pregnant, and that's still fine, fuck you shut up!!!"

(I think that's a literal quote)

I'm learning!

Bindersfulohostbodies's avatar

There’s a gal who gets it! Good job, you!

V4Virginia's avatar

Not for any moral reason, but I'd try to avoid it. It's not dangerous but it's not fun, and repeated abortions can damage the cervix.

easelox is on timeout's avatar

She is actually very safe, on the pill and in a steady long term relationship, so I don't worry about her at all.

Also, abortions don't prevent STDs. Safer sex practices do.

I think NBC is already taking a lot of flack for the Welker interview with trump. They are fighting back. Meandrea Mitchell wrote an op/ed somewhere about how groundbreaking Welker is. Then she interviewed Welker on her Meandrea show. Congratulated her on her AMAZING interview with the Orange Rapist.

So that should be enough to make us all stop criticizing NBC and start praising them instead. Right?

Linda1961 is proudly woke's avatar

Have they already shown the interview? I thought that MTP was on Sunday mornings.

Dorothea is a Democrat's avatar

lt hasn't been televised yet but it has been recorded. You don't do live interviews with the Orange Asshole. He might get upset and it is NBC's job to make sure the Rapist is comfortable at all times.

Linda1961 is proudly woke's avatar

A live interview would give them the excuse that they can't fact check fast enough to include in the broadcast. By taping it, they should be able to include the fact checks each time he lies.

Dorothea is a Democrat's avatar

But then they wouldn't be able to increase traffic to their website and encourage people to download their app. Every single angle is analyzed down to its toes on its potential to increase profit. Not on its potential to inform Americans of anything.

Zeitgeist's avatar

Taped it yesterday at Bedminster. Figure they'll be passing out teaser clips pretty soon.

Linda1961 is proudly woke's avatar

trump is a bore - he will whine the whole time, like he always does. I want to know how much NBC had to debase themselves to score that interview. Since it's taped, they could edit in the facts each time he lies, to be shown during the broadcast, but they ain't gonna. They will show the facts on a website after the interview, so, yeah, they debased themselves to get the traitor.

Dorothea is a Democrat's avatar

Right. Our problem is we continue to look at this as something that is bad for America. Very bad. If we only would look at it like NBC does, as a way to make money, then we would understand. Yes, they have to lie to their viewers about their motivations but that is a small price to pay. Integrity, journalism, and the greater good is not a part of their equation.

And they're very busy congratulating themselves very loudly for being SO GREAT at hiring Black people. Sure, that's great. The fact that she will have to put her soul in some kind of lockbox while she does her job is irrelevant.

I had thought it was CNN. Welker handled that interview like a true entertainment talking head. TFG: "All electric cars will be made in China." ORLY?

It's embarrassing.
