Food waste is more of a problem than you'd think. We could comfortably feed everyone on earth if only that food was efficiently distributed.

And this is why money for Wonkette is well-spent. I am now completely ignoring the MSM.

Wonkette reads so I don't have to.

Ta, Robyn. Cutting down on food waste is a pet issue of mine. I've been composting my food scraps for DECADES, first taking them to the Greenmarket or Lower East Side Ecology Center; now we just fill up freezer bags and have our own composter at the pied-à-nuage (it's funny when the avocado seeds sprout; an avocado plant could never survive our upstate climate).

It is unconscionable that human beings are going to starve, perhaps to death, because THAT THING was "elected," and is running roughshod all over OUR federal agencies. The Post is a piece of Murdoch shit that should have been flushed ages ago.

Yes, that hotbed of radicals, Ft. Collins, CO. They have gorgeous flowerbeds everywhere on campus with lots of radical trial plants. And radical cows. Oh, and cowboys 'n girls. Yeehaw.

It's a lovely city. If I didn't live in my current lovely city, I would live there.

TBF, USAID doesn’t exist to do good things. It exists to generate international goodwill and thus soft power benefits for the US. The WAY it does that is by doing good things. It’s a bit splitting of hairs, and certainly many/most of the USAID employees are there to do good. But no instrument of our foreign services exists for anything other than selfish reasons.

But people do get fed and vaccinated, and drag shows do get put on, so win-win (or lose-lose, at the moment).

I don’t see a problem here. An agency can have a dual purpose and as long as the result is a net good for the world, it’s worthwhile.

Was listening to the Elon & Donald Comedy Hour last night via Dead Domain's video, and the constant lies both of them told to justify their "government delenda est" strategy were amazing. Trump's bullshit about guys paid for 20 years for a 3 month contract, Musk's batshit insanity about the unused mine where they store government records, and then when Musk said "Some things I say here may be incorrect" I couldn't take any more. Fucker admits he's lying but thinks it's okay because reasons. I hope his next refill of ketamine is cut with Boraxo.

Occurred to me the other day that...a high percentage of very rich, powerful people become highly unstable, drug addicted and monomaniacal. Many spiral down and down and succumb to their lack of self control.

Michael Jackson for example.

Muskrat and Scamburglar are well on their way...

Maybe "Ignoble / Ignobel Prize"? 😁 It is the NYPost, love (Britspeak usage).

They've been journalistic rejects swill for a very long time. Used to see their rags when I lived in Brooklyn, Staten Island, Northport (north shore LI) 25 years ago and the locals either swore by it (the idiots 😵‍💫) or wouldn't line their bird cages nor use as fire starter (the correct ones 🧐). Did peruse the "publication" once or thrice circa 1997. Nothing but greasy tabloid gutter trash "headlines" and greasing tabloid gutter trash to the 4th power "articles."

To switch gears, as to the alternative time lines and time slips so elegantly pointed out herein vis-a-vis Papa Bush and other examples, randos and so-called professionals and many professionals pull the mid-debate horse pucky "logic": you're lying about those facts, they alternatively ignore those facts, or drop right into ad hominem attacks (coz they're cowardly bullies) or appeal to emotions (coz their vibes outway your vibes) 🙄🤦🏼‍♂️

Alex Wagner told Chris Hayes last night or night before folks are getting shitcanned now for DEI coz they took DEIA during Herr Trump 1.0 circa 2019 when that admin supported those things but now they ain't.

They're all infants angrily tantrum-ing or memory holed adolescents dissembling to yeah-but yeah-but in an endless muhfukkin loop and in either case trapped in adult or The Olds bodies. Not unlike The Outer Limits intro went (summarized from memory:) "...we control the horizontal, we control the vertical..." This behavior validates my Fourth Reich™ coin a phrase; we're about 4 weeks away to American SS & American politibureaus, FFS! 🤯

Like we continue off-and-on to write and comment here (recall Our Liz saying it here the most but that's not certain), this prolly isn't the worst timeline but it certainly is the dumbest timeline 😤

How lying and propaganda in the media caused where we are.

Imagine if the only news you read is the one that says your favorite sports team wins every game every year.

But when it comes playoff time they are never in the playoffs.

So instead of coming clean the media just says it’s a conspiracy and your team is getting screwed by the people in charge.

And now we have outrage and conspiracy nuts that you will never win an argument with because they have spent the last 3 years reading fake scores. They will never believe you no matter what you show them because to believe the truth is to admit how stupid and gullible they have been the whole time and they would have to give up their entire identity.

**Using the education USAID provided him — he earned a bachelor’s in civil engineering in 1994 — al-Awlaki would go on to teach Islam at mosques across the country where US officials believe he used his platform to radicalize and recruit terrorists.**

Or is this more like a degree in UNcivil Engineering, if it educates you in radicalization!?! [If you know what I mean (and I think you do).]

According to USA TODAY (not exactly a "liberal" source) FORTY ONE PERCENT (41%) (~$2Billion) of food purchased for distribution by USAID comes from American farmers. Cancelling these food programs is a huge blow to those farming interests who supported trump.

As with all things trump, stab-them-in-the-back is his policy towards supporters.

I suspect some are having buyers remorse - kind of like the Muslim community in Michigan (I think it was Michigan). Aside from the USAID cut off, farmers heavily rely on migrants from Mexico and a lot of their products are tariff-sensitive.
