nah he’s a liar, and he’s always been a liar since he ran against gretch. He will tell any sort of lie against his opponent.
Haley all the way, altho she should have started fighting him earlier.
I def think he’ll win, but it doesn’t matter how good you think he sounds or his flashy commercials, if he says m4a while knowing for a fact he won’t have to pass it-he is an inferior choice. She’s been legislating for years. He’s riding on the anti israel/anti aipac wave to victory like that guy riding the nuke in how i learned to love the bomb. It’s like the southern strategy but with israel and american jews. (this reference is not mine)
Does it not surprise you that so few dem leaders in MI actually want to endorse him? He’s untrustworthy and they all know it. But fine, he’s more attractive and polished than haley and likes making her sound like a criminal.
Dem officials here have not gotten over uncommitted.
The whole sliming Haley with donors and superpacs is gross. Clearly, he takes those too, and his also have dark money behind them. There is zero evidence in her legislating that she is influenced by this. She appears to legitimately feel some sympathy toward Israel, and it’s always been like that with her. Unlike him, she is not independently wealthy nor does she have wealthy parents with their own superpacs and foundations and property holdings. Fine, let him win. Nobody wants to watch her dance in a tight t shirt and she talks silly and that’s a wrap.
The longer this campaign goes on, the less I like El-Sayed. Stevens has a long record of getting things accomplished, which El-Sayed has not demonstrated any skills at. What he means by calling her "establishment" is precisely that she has political skills, which is now supposed to be a bad thing for a candidate for a political office. I expect him to be like his idol Bernie, making lots of noises about the right issues and getting nothing actually enacted, if he gets in: of course, if he wins the primary I'll vote for the useless Bernie Bro over the harmful Republican, but without any enthusiasm, and I do not expect him to have much chance against Rogers, unlike Stevens who has a substantial lead over him. He has a relentless focus on AIPAC which is "not terribly popular among some Michigan voters" but Dearborn is not the majority of the state. Stevens does not believe in cutting off Israel completely, while El-Sayed has an unfortunate record of saying it is "justifiable" to do things like ram a truck into a synagogue (he had to walk that back, saying he did not understand that the guy was invading an elementary school to murder all the kids and wouldn't support that): he does not openly spout pro-Hamas rhetoric but does not consider those who do to be a dealbreaker, like Republicans who don't spout Naziism but have no problem breaking bread with those who do. And the bit in his ads about "thanking ICE" is disingenuous: it was a big vague resolution of no legal force thanking all law enforcement agencies, designed to trap Democrats into voting No because ICE was on the list so that they could be accused of wanting to abolish all police (it's also been raised in my district where Shri Thanedar, who introduced the bill to abolish ICE entirely and has been very loud on that score has been dishonestly accused of being an ICE supporter).
I voted for Stevens and urge other Michiganders to do so likewise.
Are you fine with that? Or did you not know any of this was happening?
Don't even get me started on your misrepresentations about ICE. They are MURDERING PEOPLE ON THE STREET and DETAINING PEOPLE WHILE FULLY DEPRIVING THEM OF THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS.
"Abdul led efforts to erase $700 million in medical debt, build a state-of-the-art air quality monitoring system, and provide free glasses for children" And how did those efforts come out? How do they stack up against keeping Ford and General Motors alive, leading successful fights to cap insulin prices and otherwise reduce pharmaceutical costs, and establishing effective constituent service?
"Speaking of which, are you familiar at all with the ways -- with the help of AIPAC money -- Stevens has attempted to deceive voters?" It is Joy Reid who is being dishonest here. Her ads never said that Obama was endorsing in the current race, but contain genuine clips of him praising her work as chief of staff on his auto-rescue task force, which was an important event in our state's recent history.
Haley Stevens is every bit as aware as you and I about what ICE has done. But she was not going to be trapped into voting against every police department in the country, and using her vote on that trick resolution to imply that she supports ICE is thoroughly dishonest.
Since you seem to be trolling here solely to campaign against Al Sayed and for someone how tells voters lies in order to keep a bunch of murderers funded, you should know that already
And since you quote without sourcing, other people reading here should know that at this point you're just spewing unsupported smears

“Reagan” is too far but I’m surprised at the enthusiasm for moderates, simply for a lack of policy. McMurrow made her race about “joy” right off the bat - not the economy - and that was disqualifying for me.

I hope that we are going to see a paradigm shift in the Democratic party with the infusion of new Socialist blood into the mainstream establishment. The DNC needs an adult in the room to help them focus! I do believe that there is enough space for all aspects to come together instead of the "All or nothing / Ride or die" mentality.
Personally, I feel... in this moment... confident... of the future of the DNC with the likes of Momdani and El-Sayed (and others).
Agreed - I hope this goddamn fucking primary ends *correctly*.

Zombie Mitch's arm raises unsteadily, the gnarled hand unfurls, and a bony digit points at today's button collar shirt.

Same as yesterday.
