Wednesday was one long day of avoiding the news, Wonketteers, and we understand if you've been busy numbing your pain by shopping for shoes or guzzling dark-colored liquors, but we would be remiss if we didn't draw your attention to a few distant bits of flickering light, barely visible through the haze of unregulated coal emissions and hog farm waste pond fumes. In our wanderings in the ruins of this week's election results, we have found a few things intact to help you remember that you can and will feel Hope again.
Slim Pickens- abortion was never in danger because the GOP needs it as a wedge issue. While Brown is indeed an assclown, it would have made more difference to have gotten rid of Walker or Scott. And the weed and minimum wage issues just show that people are selfish- enough people now work for minimum or have family/friends who do to make it a political winner, but they still voted in a ton of politicians who philosophically oppose anything that is pro labor. Likewise, enough people either smoke weed or have at some point/know someone who does that it also is no longer a contentious issue. yet people still voted overall for more authoritarianism. Those are small glimmers indeed...
This bit of news almost gives me more hope than anything else. I sincerely hope other states follow suit and get the damn NRA out of buying policy influence.
that's pretty much the GOP playbook in a nutshell. Toss in 'deliberately break things then blame the other side for them being broken' and you've got their 2016 platform.
Don't forget going from "OMG, DEH EBOLAZ IS GONNA GET US! THROW EVERYONE IN A FUCKIN' TENT IN NEWARK! OBAMAZ GONNA KILL US ALL!" to "Ebola? What's that?" in record time.
Any port in a storm, since Nevada decided to give Republicans control of every executive office and both chambers of the state Legislature for the first time since The Great Depression. The Tea Party nuts who got elected are already talking about "fixing" state pensions and education spending (read: Using the Scott Walker playbook to smash unions and privatize stuff). Our only hope is that our Governor is as moderate as he claims, and that the Dems that still occupy the State Senate make enough mischief to block it.

Where are those kitten photos again? Please??

Robert Mugabe?
Bill Gates?
Somehow, an ass kicking is a small price to pay for the looming Republican knife fight.
Here in hotly contested CA-52, shitty Democratic candidate Scott Peters is still neck-and-neck with noted chicken-choker Carl DeMaio.
It astounds me that Florida voted that clown back in.

Grayson and Murphy were re-elected...
I'm sure the NRA lawyers are already drafting their petitions.
Could be worse. You could be in Pensacola, like me.
