If I had done a Rip Van Winkle nap back in 1944 and just woke up I would have to assume that Germany did win World War II; Adolph Hitler had mastered the ability to migrate his evil soul from one used up body to a new vessel every 30 years and three quarters of the planet was uninhabitable due to radiation and extreme weather.

But on the plus side we would have teevee with side boob!

Dear America.

This whole only ever have elections every four years and it being functionally impossible to remove a sitting president is turning out to not be that great.

When rebuilding whatever is left after, lets change that detail, if we could please.

Our system is like a legacy IBM 360. The upgrades to our constitution have mostly been minor tinkers; the attempts to do major upgrades like the 14th Amendment have mostly been aspirational vaporware, scarcely implemented.

I don’t know for a fact that ideas like the new tariffs came from Putin to deliberately weaken the US, but they might as well have come from him.

Expand full comment

Tariffs are so colossally stupid it must have been planned in TFGs brain by Putin.

So, enough reading the news for today.

Walked the treadmill, sans weight vest since I tweaked my back yesterday. Only downside - I couldn’t get into the target HR I want (130-140) - even at a 9 degree angle and 2.7 mph. No biggie.

Fixed a $275 problem with a $50 part: the portable charger that came with my EV., which I never used in 4 yrs (nor tested at time of purchase), was discovered to have a latching problem with the vehicle. No latch, no charge. Fixed it by buying a NACS -> J1772 adapter, and then use the J1772-> NACS adapter that came with the car.Presto! The portable charger which I never used can now go back in the car, possibly to never get used again.

Thats about all the news I got. Enjoy your Sunday!

I’ve only ever used the portable charger to charge my EV. I plug it into a dryer outlet in the garage.

Nods along. I dont have a garage - and had an electrician repurpose our dryer power to a weather proofed 14-50 outlet, where I had a L2 charger in place. When that went kaput last year (unseen bad design on the cable outlets) - I tried the mobile only to find out about the latch issue.

We’re doing a month in Key Largo in May - and we wanted to have that as an option. A super charger >might< be done at one of the grocery stores by then ( they had permits back in Nov.) but not holding my breath.

Expand full comment
ciaobella's avatar

No other L3 chargers at all in Key Largo? We have one of those CCS-Tesla adapters and I’ve used it once or twice with non-Tesla L3 charging stations.

Expand full comment
Rib, Internet Stranger MD's avatar

There’s a SC at Homestead, 30 min trip each way - worst case. There’s an electrify america L3 closer, but I dont have the CCS adapter (yet). There are ample destination chargers, so thats an option. To be fair, we’ll be working while we’re there on weekdays so our trips will be minimal and or short.

If we decide to do a weekend at Key West theres a SC there too.

So, no anxiety here, just the follies of not checking the included mobile charger - and soling it with a $50 adapter.
