We need more 'Undercover Brother' in our diet. It's science.

Joe Morton!

I like him a lot.

He was scary in Crossroads for real

Another good one.

I saw a few minutes of that movie years ago but not the whole thing.

Robert Eckert's avatar

It is weird and wonderful. Unfortunately I have to work Saturday eves.

DTRT, for sure.

If only the American people hated Trump as much as he hates us . . .

Robert Eckert's avatar

Some of us hate him enough to cover other people's shares of the hatred he is owed.

With trump, every day is 'Groundhog Day.' A nightmare over and over again

If I had done a Rip Van Winkle nap back in 1944 and just woke up I would have to assume that Germany did win World War II; Adolph Hitler had mastered the ability to migrate his evil soul from one used up body to a new vessel every 30 years and three quarters of the planet was uninhabitable due to radiation and extreme weather.

But on the plus side we would have teevee with side boob!

Aquaman, Real Estate Investor.'s avatar

Dear America.

This whole only ever have elections every four years and it being functionally impossible to remove a sitting president is turning out to not be that great.

When rebuilding whatever is left after, lets change that detail, if we could please.

Our system is really cutting edge, for the 18th century.

Jessica's avatar

There's been a lot of upgrades since Democracy 1.0

Robert Eckert's avatar

Our system is like a legacy IBM 360. The upgrades to our constitution have mostly been minor tinkers; the attempts to do major upgrades like the 14th Amendment have mostly been aspirational vaporware, scarcely implemented.

TerseNurse's avatar

also, could we talk about the "electoral college"...?

TerseNurse's avatar

the great compromise wasn't, in my humble, so fucking great.

Bunday Redux. Think I'm gonna leave this here in this thread.

I don’t know for a fact that ideas like the new tariffs came from Putin to deliberately weaken the US, but they might as well have come from him.

Land Shark 🇺🇦 🏳️‍⚧️'s avatar

Nah. This is Donnie trying to get his mushroom to grow bigger.

Carstonio's avatar

Sure, but Putin could very well be egging him on using that insecurity.

So, enough reading the news for today.

Walked the treadmill, sans weight vest since I tweaked my back yesterday. Only downside - I couldn’t get into the target HR I want (130-140) - even at a 9 degree angle and 2.7 mph. No biggie.

Fixed a $275 problem with a $50 part: the portable charger that came with my EV., which I never used in 4 yrs (nor tested at time of purchase), was discovered to have a latching problem with the vehicle. No latch, no charge. Fixed it by buying a NACS -> J1772 adapter, and then use the J1772-> NACS adapter that came with the car.Presto! The portable charger which I never used can now go back in the car, possibly to never get used again.

Thats about all the news I got. Enjoy your Sunday!

ciaobella's avatar

I’ve only ever used the portable charger to charge my EV. I plug it into a dryer outlet in the garage.

Rib, Internet Stranger MD's avatar

Nods along. I dont have a garage - and had an electrician repurpose our dryer power to a weather proofed 14-50 outlet, where I had a L2 charger in place. When that went kaput last year (unseen bad design on the cable outlets) - I tried the mobile only to find out about the latch issue.

We’re doing a month in Key Largo in May - and we wanted to have that as an option. A super charger >might< be done at one of the grocery stores by then ( they had permits back in Nov.) but not holding my breath.

ciaobella's avatar

No other L3 chargers at all in Key Largo? We have one of those CCS-Tesla adapters and I’ve used it once or twice with non-Tesla L3 charging stations.

Rib, Internet Stranger MD's avatar

There’s a SC at Homestead, 30 min trip each way - worst case. There’s an electrify america L3 closer, but I dont have the CCS adapter (yet). There are ample destination chargers, so thats an option. To be fair, we’ll be working while we’re there on weekdays so our trips will be minimal and or short.

If we decide to do a weekend at Key West theres a SC there too.

So, no anxiety here, just the follies of not checking the included mobile charger - and soling it with a $50 adapter.

Sojourner Truth's avatar

Us too but I had to buy some extension cords and plug adapters to make it work for us. No biggie.

Current headline at The Guardian: "Trump Warns Americans that Tariffs may cause 'Pain'"

pro tip: if a registered nurse warns you that you "may feel a slight pinch", find a good solid piece of leather to bite down on.

TerseNurse's avatar

Other people have touched on this, but I'm going to ask: Now that Musk has his fingers in the Treasury cookie jar, would it be feasible for them to cut off federal payments to "enemies of the state"? ie registered democrats, residents of CA or NY, etc etc?

Spleen Victoria's avatar

His game is bigger. It’s eliminating the Mint and the current payment system and replacing it with X. He will only bother with piddly shit like that if it’s to placate the Tangerine so he can stay embedded there like a tick.

Aquaman, Real Estate Investor.'s avatar

This seems sadly plausible.

The whole "everything is now X the everything app!" Thing is part of his broken brain.

Went to Asia and still can't get over how universal the Grab App is.

But we get a shit version stamped into our faces.

We are not exactly sure. Élno was granted access but what that entails no one has said. Read-only, maybe? (that's bad enough)

Bradthe🤖's avatar

If it was read only they wouldn’t have been able to lock out the workers who were there before the Nazis arrived.

Land Shark 🇺🇦 🏳️‍⚧️'s avatar

That's wasn't Elon ... that was an actual Treasury employee with admin access. One quit, the next in line gave Elno and his nazis access after Secretary Whatever ordered them to.

[Edit] Authentication/authorization is very different than data access. Some people don't have both.
