15 MINUTES TILL SHOW TIME!

cynmac's avatar

I won't be joining tonight. Bounce is replaying The Wiz Live from last year and I have to watch. I was in attendance for our original showing of Clue and remember the Axl kitten drama. Glad to see that as tribute to Tim Curry that this movie was chosen and that Axl survived and thrived.

Hi cynmac!

Enjoy your watching of The Wiz!

Obama took away all our lead pipe.

Don't worry, Tump and the republicans are giving them back.

Stanta Knows's avatar

Hi all. I've never seen this and I'm going to try but I was out and about all day (longest day out in 7 years) and I might crash. Flame on the sides of my face!

Anarchy Pony's avatar

I've never even had a Clue. Ask any of my exes.

The Estivating Hibernian's avatar

Dearie, the exes are how you accumulate a clue.

What a painful system...

Starring Madeline Kahn!

I'll be back in a few minutes, something I need to attend to.

SterWonk's avatar

You'll be in your bunk?

tehbaddr's avatar

Don't know if I'll make it that far!

She is a QUEEN

The Estivating Hibernian's avatar

Herself and Gilda Radner. Great women who didn't get to live long enough.

ziggywiggy's avatar

You speak the truth.

The Estivating Hibernian's avatar

I know a funny woman when they make me fall down laughing.

ciaobella's avatar

Although I liked the board game, I've always sucked at it, and people were always like, "But, with your degrees? Thought you were smart." Ugh.

Marlon Rando's avatar

Same with Scrabble. An English degree is no match for random letter sequences.

ciaobella's avatar

I also hate playing pool because they're always like, wait, I thought you were a physicist, why do you suck at pool, ha ha. Fine, I'm gonna go have a pint, assholes.

BONUS TRIVIA:

Jennifer Jason Leigh, Demi Moore, and Madonna were considered for the role of the buxom French maid Yvette. Eager to earn the part, Colleen Camp went to her audition in a low cut French maid costume showing a lot of cleavage. In a 2013 BuzzFeed retrospective, writer and director Jonathan Lynn admitted that although he was impressed with Camp's comedic acting skills, it was her well-endowed figure that ultimately convinced him, "There was no avoiding it."

JJL is just the best, no doubt about it

No relation to the great Janet Leigh, I think

SterWonk's avatar

Never seen; will watch, not Wonk.

tehbaddr's avatar

I've never seen it as well. You know you can do both.

I was gonna sit this one out because I just got my power back after three days of being Amish and the house looks I survived a home invasion. Bur it's Clue! How can I not watch Clue?

I know!

:::turns off lights:::

There! All better!

Well chosen, soon-to-be-stoned WeaverSix.

ziggywiggy's avatar

Fuck yeah!

Anarchy Pony's avatar

I've never seen Clue.

tehbaddr's avatar

Reads post. Hmm, so like Murder by Death?

MRK's avatar

Better.

I started participating in Movie Night well after you showed this movie. Babby Axl had already become a feature.

When I was a little boy, I watched "Dracula" quite a few times and could imitate Dwight Frye's Renfield laugh quite well, if I do say so myself.

SkeptiKC's avatar

I've got to pester paul to snap a candid photo of the Cat the Ripper so that our striped feline menace may audition for a guest appearance with our beloved Axl on a forthcoming movie night.

Making the assumption that you are the (collectively) moviest wonkers there are.

It looks like Filipiñana will be distributed in this country (yesterday's paper had an interview with the director.) If any of you see it and want to have a discussion about it, grab me.

twinsbrewer's avatar

That sounds great! Sadly I've never seen any movies from that country (or 90% of the world's countries).

theCryptofishist's avatar

We don’t make it easy to see foriegn films. I saw it at teh San Francisco Film Festival—which brags about being the oldest international film festival in the Americas. The only one I went to.

Joe Z's avatar

I've made a point of watching Iranian movies, but that's because my family's from there.

theCryptofishist's avatar

Did you see the one where the father sells the house without the mother's permission and so the sons do desparately stupid things to get the money to buy it buck? Ending with them driving over a mountain pass in the snow? It was good, but depressing. Yeah, I kinda give points to German and Polish stuff...

theCryptofishist's avatar

Fuck, you probably didn't. They don't show it in this country.

twinsbrewer's avatar

I don't know very much about those, but I really love Jafar Panahi’s movies. They are so humane and compassionate. He’s a helluva filmmaker.

I can't tell if it's a horror story or surrealism.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filipi%C3%B1ana Although, I got a different sense of the plot. I often do, I read synopses and go, "Huh?"

the visuals are kinda amazing.

Set on a golf course in Manila on a single day.

My mmiddle name is Philippa, so I always want to spell it with the "Ph" instead of the "F."

Tonight's mystery:

What is ziggy snacking on before the movie?

A) popcorn with butter and salt

2) leftover mushroom/truffle oil pizza

C) choco-flan

4) All of the above

Stanta Knows's avatar

Yes.

ziggywiggy's avatar

It seems you know me.

Parakeetist's avatar

Poppycorm ees tastee.

zuludaddy (seamonkey!)'s avatar

ummm,

yeees?

Craig Nixon's avatar

4.

I had Buffalo Cheddar popcorn earlier.

The Estivating Hibernian's avatar

The chocoflan is long gone. It has a very short half-life.

ziggywiggy's avatar

Correct!

One answer (or two) has been eliminated.

Pardon the interruption. I promise this is the only one until tomorrow. We didn't have many Wonks in the yard today. We're expecting more to show up tomorrow. We had a few showers but ducked under the tent for the duration. Stanta made it up the mountain and sadly I completely forgot to snap his picture. Paul on the other hand had his phone pointed at Random and got this perfection.

We'll have plenty of pictures and videos tomorrow. The weather appears to be finally cooperating.

Enjoy the movie! I need to go to bed now. Goodnight.
