Booker on mistakes of the Democratic Party: "The biggest mistake is not centering people enough. A lot of people voted for Donald Trump because they trusted him and didn't trust the Democrats could deliver for them."
I know he's supposed to do this, I understand that as an elected politician he's not able to say "they voted for Trump because he promised to hurt people they hate" but... really? They trusted a man who said tariffs would be his solution to the high cost of childcare to look out for them?
Holy shit, this worked! If my comments seemed more typo prone lately, it's because the S pen to my S9 has been acting up. It keeps writing a stroke even after I lift the stylus from the screen. (If anyone has ever used a fountain pen and there was a hair or piece of lint stuck to the nib, this was like that.)
Went online - saw someone suggest smacking the S pen against something. It worked!
I want to go to this event SO BADLY but I don't think my House Arrest rules will allow it.

Taste the Best Restaurants in St. Louis
Featuring Ian Froeb's "STL 100" - the 100 best restaurants in St. Louis.
April 10, 7 pm, St. Louis Science Center
I'm not allowed to go anywhere that could possibly be described as "not an essential activity of daily life", such as restaurants or festivals or theaters or protest marches. Even though on paper I'm innocent because I haven't been tried yet, I am not allowed to do anything that could remotely be considered "fun" because "Innocent until proven guilty" is just a theory. Why is that, I wonder? The judge said "I 'might' be a danger to the community, but they have zero evidence of that, and they let me go to supermarkets and hospitals and libraries where there are hundreds or thousands of people, and I haven't hurt anyone yet. I've never hurt anyone EVER, but apparently going to a festival or eating in a restaurant is something I can't be trusted to do, even though I've done those things hundreds of times in my life without any problem other than the fact that I often spend too much money at those places.
I read about a man who was in JAIL for SEVEN YEARS waiting for trial, because his public defenders kept quitting, which resets the clock and the whole process starts over. And he ended up being AQUITTED! But he lost 7 years of his life, plus his job, his car, and his family, because he couldn't afford a private attorney. I had to fire my first attorney in 2023, which also reset the clock, but fortunately I was retired, owned my home, and my family has money - but even so there could be another postponement because the prosecutor does not want to go to trial because she knows she will lose.
Neither do I, but somehow I keep it contained, probably because it's of no use to me right now. Just wait until after I'm acquitted...then I'm suing for $50 mil.
My father and stepmom went to a rally in Florida. A lady I walked with to my rally was super judgy that my dad still goes to Florida. I couldn't argue that and find it surprising too. Dad named a town I can't recall, though it might be in the villages and had some concerns it might not be safe.

FOX: Elon Musk took a shot on you on X and he's going against the administration with respect to tariffs. Is there a rift?
PETER NAVARRO: Look, Elon when he's in his DOGE lane is great, but we understand what's going on here. Elon sells cars. He's simply protecting his own interests.
Various entities within the federal government specialize in this shit, strategy, risk, vulnerability, forethought, cause and effect, action and consequence...
In April 2025, while most of the world was clutching pearls over trade war tit-for-tat tariffs, China calmly walked over to the supply chain and yanked out a handful of critical bolts. The bolts are made of dysprosium, terbium, tungsten, indium and yttrium—the elements that don’t make headlines but without which your electric car doesn’t run, your fighter jet doesn’t fly, and your solar panels go from clean energy marvels to overpriced roofing tiles. They’re minerals that show up on obscure government risk registers right before wars start or cleantech projects get quietly cancelled...
What China did wasn’t a ban...They called it export licensing...make no mistake: this was a surgical strike...These licenses give Beijing control over not just where these materials go, but how fast they go, in what quantity, and to which politically convenient customers...
There's a tungsten mine here that shut down when China flooded the market back in 1982. I don't know if Union Carbide still owns it, but it would probably be too expensive to reopen it after so long.
another mineral is antimony which primarily comes from china. it is added as a micropowder to plastics formulations as a fire-retardant, and to metal castings for whiteness.
Road trip this week! For work, driving down to our Portland office from Seattle. I’m renting a big SUV because I’m bringing 20 or so bankers boxes of legal files with me. They say lawyers just push paper and that’s what I’m literally doing this week.
I had to work yesterday so missed the protest in our valley, which I hear was huge. My friend and I, who also worked, held signs standing on the roundabout nearby after work and we got a ton of positive feedback! It felt great. I got home too late for the movie but maybe I'll watch it tonight.
Such a wonderful turnout nationwide. Proud and hopeful for us.
Arrival is fabu.
Ferris should have helped Cameron with the car thang.
I just watched "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" for the first time last week and I am O-L-D! I love it.

Was there a cat in the movie?
Miaow miaow (chicka chicka)
Not that I’m aware of?
The kitty that is in Ferris’s lap is called Axl, and that tabby kitty is Wonkette Movie Night’s mascot.
You’ll find Axl hiding someplace or maybe not hiding in every Wonkette Movie Night movie poster.

Something?
There happened to be an old phone book next to me.
My mind went many places.

Feet first!
A .45 is cheaper with more throughput and less cleaning.
Also easier to clear when it gets jammed.
A .22 is even cheaper but, I'd go for partial loads and headshots. Let the bullet bounce around in there for a microsecond. (I watch too much TV.)
Who's gonna clean all that up, anyway?!
In the French Revolution, they just put gutters along the streets for the blood to drain into.
Well, that big yellow thing looks like it'll spray a lot!
[smiles absolutely wickedly...]
The city here has a chipper that will shred TREES!
This PNW city has a couple of such devices. It's time to put them to productive work.

How long are you going to have to deal with this shit?
Until the trial, which is the week of July 21. I've been on House arrest almost 4 years because the trial was postponed 4 times.
Ridiculous that it’s taken so long. Wishing a good outcome for you.

Super-rare new interview with the reclusive Tracy Chapman about re-releasing her 1988 debut album, which was a masterpiece

One of my favorites. Formative for me.
Yep Same. I used to fall asleep during high school listening to this album on my little CD player.
I remember the first time I heard the song. I was going to bed and the radio was on and I just cried mostly through it. :(

Look at THE VILLAGES in Florida. This is amazing and history in the making.
Keep rising, blue Florida!!!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

PLEASE Florida, prove me wrong for once.
You steal people's money and they will fucking kill you.
I still think the rioting, if it happens, will start on the right. January 6th showed us all what they are capable of.
No, I think if there are more (or bigger) protests like yesterday, they'll CALL it "rioting" and start sending troops in.
I am talking about REAL rioting not made up bullshit by the administration.
Oh, yes.
Agree 100%, it's like the revised "Hell hath no fury" saying.
THIS is what giving a GENUINE damn sounds like, comrades.

China has been threatening to do this for well over a decade. The idiot is truly an idiot if he didn't see this coming.
There's a tungsten mine here that shut down when China flooded the market back in 1982. I don't know if Union Carbide still owns it, but it would probably be too expensive to reopen it after so long.
Are there any small countries that supply these minerals? I forsee a few pro-US coups coming down the line....
another mineral is antimony which primarily comes from china. it is added as a micropowder to plastics formulations as a fire-retardant, and to metal castings for whiteness.
It is going to take a few generations to clean up after the devastating MESS the Depraved Despot is making of US diplomatic relations.
You have NO idea how much I want to throttle that vapid fucking prat. He is behaving like a spoiled child lashing out at other selfish playmates.
So much winning! I can’t take the winning!
Can't we just strangle IncompeDon with one of his blue ribbons and get this nightmare OVER with?
Nope. That’s up to KFC and McDonalds and if there is a caring universe
Unfortunately we need to strangle too many people with said ribbons.
Line 'em up...
I've got time.
PAB is a JEANYUS!11!

I tried, but I can't.

Please keep talking to us.
Sometimes just talking can sort things out we’re here for you and we care.
Thanks, so much!
I’m here for you if you ever wanna talk
Things are rough out there we need each other
Apologies for double posting, but could you let us know you're ok, and if you're not, were there.
Are you ok? Do you need some help?
Thanks for asking.
I'm fine, but the unrelenting Trump shit-storm is taxing!

yay, you! pretty gutsy for just two of you to do that.
Fucking broke my glasses yesterday, so now if I wanna see worth a damn I have to wear my rx sunglasses.
You'll be one of the sunglasses-inside-cool-guys! Even cooler when the sun goes down!
You can wave a chainsaw around and be just like Elon Musk!
I'm not high enough for that. Yet.
You just have to be able to wield it blindly.
you mean you're not low enough for that. ever.
