Our next movie has a badass female superhero with her cat. One of my favorites of this genre.

Yeah, that inflation fix he is bringing with his tariffs may have a silver lining.

At your next garage sale you can charge TWO dollars for a paperback book instead of 25 cents; don't hesitate to ask for SIX dollars for tee shirts! That old lawn mower that don't work? You can ask for and get THIRTY to ONE HUNDRED Ameros instead of having to pay some guy to come and haul it away!

And do not let anyone tell you that "secondary consumer markets" are not affected by tariffs and such price gouging is not OK. If one hundred million Americans can't be bothered to understand what Tariff means you don't have to 'splain nothing to no one ever again. Just jack up the garage sale prices and whistle a happy know-nothing song.

Self Care Tip: If you're feeling powerless because of this election, try a power pose. There is a physiological reason that certain body language or smiling makes you feel better.

Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Put your hands on your hips. Puff your chest out like Superman. Hold your head high and hold the pose for at least a minute.

I think the biggest thing I can’t stand is the hypocrisy of the right. How completely full of shit they are.

Evangelicals: I went to Walmart and they greeted me with happy holidays! Can you believe that? War on Christmas! We are the most persecuted people on Earth!

Also evangelicals: Half this country are vermin, trash, garbage. They need to be rounded up and deported, put in jail, put in camps, executed…whatever.

Republicans: we are anti-government! We want to drown government in a bathtub!

Also republicans: we want a one party government with an Authoritarian strongman to rule with an iron fist.

BUT.

They are people in love with being victims, because what they understand victimhood to be is a complete exoneration from all culpability AND an entitlement to anything they want. For them, victimhood is license.

They routinely cite Niemöller, but where other people do that to remind themselves they are in fact their brothers' keeper, these people do it to point the finger at others. In this instance, and only in this instance, they will be the communists, the trades unionists, the homosexuals etc. When they cite the quote, they are not being introspective, they are being accusatory.

YOU didn't say anything.

YOU didn't defend me.

YOU let them take me away*.

They are always the victims, and, as per their understanding, that means they are always innocent. They can't be hypocrites, because that is bad. They are pure. You are to blame.

Sort of interesting, if unwanted, conversation with a Mexican-American who just recently got his papers. He's been here 20 years! He asked me what I thought of the election and when I groaned he said he likes Trump because he's a business man. When I pointed out to him that he has bankrupted casinos and his Truth Social site is losing huge amounts of money, he shrugged and said he doesn't know about that but anyway he's rich. When I asked him what he thinks about Trump's plan to forcibly remove millions of immigrants, he again shrugged and said he doesn't really plan to do that, it's just what he needed to say to get elected. That big business won't let him do that anyway because Americans don't work hard and we need immigrants to work hard for us. After that I extricated myself and told him that I guess we'll see what happens. Fucking hell, I'm not ready for this.

Hi all! Better late than never, right?

Yesterday I read this article (Buzzfeed?) about low IQ people and their challenges. A lot of them mentioned they had trouble getting/keeping a job, and how much contempt they experience from other, smarter people. It made me wonder, is there anyway to reach out to these people and provide them with helpful information so they can find ways to feel better about themselves? Things they can do in their own time, like art, gardening, socializing kittens at a local animal shelter. Things they can do, without facing judgement, and being found wanting. At least some of them are self aware enough to they know they're easy targets for manipulation.
