Oh my god, they don't even know how to parody correctly..... After catching up on a couple of Randy Rainbow songs i had missed, Youtube has been recommending song parodies. Some have been good and some not, but they branched out and recommended one by Babylon Bee which is titled, "California Fleein' a Beach Boys Parody".
I actually had to look it up and yes, the Beach Boys did cover California Dreamin' (written by John and Michelle Phillips who were never in The Beach Boys) but the fact that I had to look it up says Babylon Bee missed their mark by not doing "California Fleein' a Mamas and Papas Parody".
I am not going to bother linking the "parody" video since....
PPACA was never properly explained to people. It is NOT health care or health care insurance. People keep talking about "Obamacare policies" There is NO SUCH THING! The subsidies are TAX Credits which you are eligible for if you are working and use some of your money to buy healthcare insurance from an independent for profit insurance company It's no different from any other tax credit. It's a fine thing It encourages people to work, file their taxes on time and be responsible for their healthcare costs. In a sane would you would call it a "conservative" plan.
To be fair, it also set a floor for some of the obscene practices health insurance companies were using to wring profits and bonuses for the executives at the expense of people they insured, especially those who actually needed to rely on the insurance they'd been paying for. That, of course, is a bridge too far for a modern conservative whose perspective is: if I get (steal) your money under any pretense whatsoever, I'm a job creator and fuck you, I got mine.
I had someone ask me to help them write a letter opposing drilling in the gulf. Bc its florida, it was referred to as the "gulf of america". Thats my chat gpt Nice Time.
The few times I've dealt with AI (usually not self-initiated), I've spent as much time correcting what it generated as I would have if I'd done the job myself. Generally about 10-15% of it is just "off." Combine that with with cloud-based platforms where about the best one can expect is a solid B grade in terms of functionality, and I feel as though we're living in The Great Imprecision Period (an outsized subset of The Age of Enshittification).
Save some of your rage for when Shammi Jo gets the charges dropped and puts him back to work
If we're at all lucky, his trial date won't come up until Democrats have gotten the supermajority in both chambers in the Senate and defunded ICE (and maybe the AG's office, since she's behaving in a laughably corrupt fashion right now)

It's a damned shame that we can't put those deplorable denizens of the Depraved Despot in the stocks in the public square after Democratic opponents whomp these Rethuglican reprobates out of office.
We've had a rare long-lasting spate of cold Tule fog seep its way over from the Central Valley into the Bay Area. The satellite photos of California are amazing, showing the fog filling the entire 450-mile-long valley for weeks, making the whole state look like someone's preparing to step into a milk bath. A COLD milk bath.
I had to commute twenty-five miles in tule fog for 2 1/2 years going to college in Modesto, CA. Looking back, I am amazed that nothing happened and I'm still alive.
We drove through some horrific fog just north of the Grapevine. No one was slowing down and I could not see more than like a foot in front of my car. I was panicking. We had to pull over at a gas station and just wait for it to lift.
I had to drive in it again in 1997. I was on I-5 going south around Santa Nella or so. I immediately took a road up toward the coast to get altitude before continuing on to LA. It was terrifying.
Tule fog in winter, dust storms in summer. The latter was my most terrifying experience on the 5. We could see these giant dust devils all over the place as we descended the Grapevine, then - BAM! - we were suddenly in this thick brown muck with almost no visibility. We somehow managed to find the next exit without getting killed, and holed up with a bunch of other drivers in a gas station convenience store, where we saw the wind pick up a CONCRETE table with a metal umbrella and send it flying down the street.
I know, in some ways it’s even more devastating when it happens in places that don’t have our insane gun policies. It always feels like our crazy is spilling out all over. And the Hanukkah angle is especially painful.
Now we at last know what's wrong with Trump and the MAGA Always on the naughty list, and annual visits by Krampus left them twisted and bitter. Poor dears.
When I took doggie out last night, there was a dead rat on the back lawn. He really, really, wanted that rat. It was so bad I had to take him out in the front to pee, away from the distraction. I then removed the rat (gloves, a shovel, a garbage bag). Good thing he is supervised out in the yard. I wouldn't want dead rat in his stomach, and he would so eat it, or at least have a good chew on it.
Had the same experience with dead rat in the backyard, to keep it away from the cat who goes outdoors. Gives me a new idea for a future pet food brand. I'm sure it will be a big seller.
Being natural scavengers like we humans (explains our close relationship with dogs) there's nothing more enjoyable than a carcass to munch on. I'm sure Doggie would have been happy to share his good fortune with you! Probably mystified by your decision to toss it.

I’ve learned what little I know of Krampus from Dean and Sam Winchester on Supernatural. 😱
People tend to die bloody on that show. Wondering where it will pop up when it leaves Netflix in a few days. Loved the early seasons.

Grey fog drapes the scenery outside of my windows. That imagery mimics my current dark demeamor too damned well.
Dammit.
Are you all safe from the flooding that is happening there? :(
Yes. paul and I live in eastern Washington on some relatively high ground. We are damned damp but otherwise safe here.
I am frantic about friends and neighbors on the west side.
That is good to hear. And yes, it is horrible. :( I hope everyone is safe.

THIS is why I fled the Valley 50 years ago.
It's worse living in it than looking at it!
Not tule fog, but fog rolled into San Diego last night and it's still hanging around.
I LOVE Tule fog. *swoons*
Except to drive in it, which is terrifying.
Drove through Sac a few days after Thanksgiving. The whole valley looked like Mordor.
Tee hee!
I had to commute twenty-five miles in tule fog for 2 1/2 years going to college in Modesto, CA. Looking back, I am amazed that nothing happened and I'm still alive.
I've been in some near misses on the 5 during tule fog. About 80% of drivers don't even seem to slow down, including big rigs.
We drove through some horrific fog just north of the Grapevine. No one was slowing down and I could not see more than like a foot in front of my car. I was panicking. We had to pull over at a gas station and just wait for it to lift.

I have been sitting here listening to the news.
The shooting in Australia has left me balancing overwhelming grief with vicious, vindictive RAGE.
These fucking guns....
OF course the gun crowd will be quick to point out that Australia recently enacted much tougher gun laws SEE!!! They don't work!
I know, in some ways it’s even more devastating when it happens in places that don’t have our insane gun policies. It always feels like our crazy is spilling out all over. And the Hanukkah angle is especially painful.
That aspect is absolutely gutting.
This little shiksa is going to weep bitter tears when she quietly lights those Hanukkah candles.
And the goddamned Nazis.
This wasn't Nazis, it was "globalizing the Intifada".
Listening to the news is not healthy.
Certainly isn't.
I'm a hopeless political/current events junkie.
Me too. However. It's become as damaging to your health as alcohol or heroin. I',m trying to kick.
As of late I've taken a couple of days OFF from my news feed in favor of comedy videos and MST3K. It was necessary.
I'm trying to balance it all out but it's getting a bit tricky these days.
Now we at last know what's wrong with Trump and the MAGA Always on the naughty list, and annual visits by Krampus left them twisted and bitter. Poor dears.

Especially since the rat may have been poisoned. That is how one of my niece's cats died.
Exactly
Fucking rat poison. It kills raptors too. Stop killing raptors and maybe you won't have so many rats!

There's no other reason he'd insist on it. China plays Trump like a cheap kazoo.
Ugh. I've come down with something. Sore throat, sniffles, mild headache. This is NOT a good week to get sick, given all I have to do.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well, but shouldn't your parenthetical non-comment have preceded the second sentence? :)
Even if Hammy had said "(Don't read this non-comment if you are enjoying bfast.)", curiosity would have had people read on.
Yeah, I'd have read on anyway. But I'm not enjoying bfast because no one has cooked anything.
