Trump expects people to believe that he ever shows restraint before attacking people, and also that this is a fair response to being called scared, and that being called scared is this bad.
It's looking like another one of those too-good-to-be-true discoveries that they should've kept quiet about until other researchers were able to reproduce it.
I'm assuming you're referring to the supposed room-temperature/pressure superconductor.
Someone referred to the fact that tRump cannot bear to be told "no", and I replied that he's better get used to it, because speaking as a corrections officer it's one of our best things.
That's what Trump fears most. Some prison guard telling him what to do. "Okay asshole, get in line. Move. Right now." As he prods trump with a baton. "Eat it or starve" when his burger is not to his liking. And the ever popular "Shut up!" when Trump starts whining.
I always try to maintain cordial relations with the inmates. A quiet range makes mine and my coworker's jobs much easier. But there are very definitely times when "Shut the fuck up and lock up" is warranted.
Pro tip: put beverage of your choice (possibly with alcohol or marijuanas) in your Diet Coke cup! Next tip: fooling your parents so you can drink the good bourbon!
Some stupid ass sports pundit a couple days ago opined that the UWNT had the fame and money go to their heads, and Carly Lloyd, who I used to respect, is getting right up there on my shit list - she called the team 'arrogant.' WTF, Carly? USWNT has been arrogant Af forever, even when you were captaining the team, because they are the best team in womens soccer bar none.
Fuck you Soccer pundit - USMNT getting paid better for performing worse on their side - also miss me with the ' they compete differently and have longer seasons' bullshit. Fucking so? US soccer throws money at them left and right, and the players play on top tier clubs, yet they consistantly under perform in their side of the sport
Also USWNT were not just let down by poor play - there were some terrible coaching desicions made along the way.
Look at a Japan - that coach has them running on all cylanders and they have played multiple styles so far and to perfection. They were always technically gifted but now they have a bit of a killer instinct to them that they almost never had before (helps that they have finishers now too).
USWNT didn't do well, but it ain't because they're woke (they always have been, assholes) they simply got out smarted and out played. Which happens and is good for the team to have a reality check every once in a while.
That's also true! After 1999, USWNT didn't win a WC til 2015, even if they were quarterfinalists or runners up. They'll get back to it but it may take some time and coaches being more tactical
PAB just released another ALL CAPS rant. I saw it on Raw Story. I didn't read it. I don't waste my time reading his pschobabble. I just saw the ALL CAPS and ignored it.
More and more I'm taken with the notion that the Trump saga is an unholy parody of "The Great Gatsby," in which Gatsby has all of Tom Buchanan's attributes and traits.
Trump's lifelong rage has been fueled by the fact he's not allowed to be in the true Elite. It isn't just about money; there's more to America's class system than that. It's not that he's a monster; the Elite is full of monsters. It's that he's vulgar, and his nature is such that he can never not be vulgar.
His frustration at this, which he realizes but doesn't understand, has led him to this; his moment of probable annihilation.
We need a playwright or novelist of sufficient ability to capture this. Later, once we've had some time to cool down.
Look at how enraged he was when the NFL didn't let him buy the Buffalo Bills; because he didn't really have the money and they didn't want him in their club.
He was too gross for the club of NFL owners. If one can even comprehend such a possibility.
Right. All the back to the 1960's he was trying to break into society and they were visibly laughing up their sleeves at him. He wold go to a restaurant like Elaine's in NYC and not be invited to join the "in" crowd. It made him nuts, and started getting louder in the hopes that people wold migrate to him.. No such luck. In the playground of life, he never got picked for the team, not even as president.
- Trump made a few feints at running even before the 2016 actual campaign; he just never filed to run before that.
- I think a huge chunk of it has always been a grandiose and chaotic marketing ploy, pumping up the Trump brand. Being president must have offered tantalizing power, but I think he got into it for the branding boost.
Oh, absolutely. Trump may be delusional, but even he didn't think Americans would be stupid enough to vote for him. He had told Christie he could have his delegates after the first 3 primaries. Hell, he didn't even think REPUBLICANS were stupid enough to vote for him in a primary.
He also did the whole "the election is rigged" in 2016, until he won. It's funny how nobody ever brings that up as proof of his lies about 2020. The election is only NOT rigged, if he wins it.
Naturally, after he "won" (by negative 3 million votes) you could see the look on his face was like "yeah, I can totally do this job that I'm completely unqualified for." It must be nice to be such a narcissist and sociopath.
I can't dig it up now (thanks to the "make America Kittens again" app), but that picture of him with Obama after the election showed us that he really had no idea how he got there.
Images from that night were the high point of my respect for Melanie Trump. Her face told the story. She had the best idea of anyone how disastrous things were going to be.
When my mom worked in social services in this area in the 80s, She would arrange for homeless people to live at one of the local motels. I don't know what it cost back then but it couldn't have been much because it was paid for by a modest local charity. That motel now? $5000 /month.
Here on the central Oregon coast, one of the stop gap measures has been for a few of the small cities to buy motels which have gone out of business, and sitting empty. They rehab them as short-stay motels, round up funding for their operation, and on top of providing a roof, offer some services to help people get to whatever their next steps happen to be. It's not a solution for all needs, but it's been helpful.
Unfortunately this area probably has ten times the population density of the Oregon coast and a strong tourist economy. Motels tend to not go out of business around here anymore. Also, in this particular area there are no chain hotels.
I admit, part of my interest in those projects is that I hate seeing buildings just sitting unused, decaying. I like seeing buildings cared for, repurposed, invested in.
The mill cities along the Merrimack river have converted most of the old mill buildings into apartments. They are cool apartments and some are pretty affordable, relatively speaking.
"The more times they indict Trump, the more people realize that the Biden administration is a communist regime. And for the first time, Americans are actually seeing what communism really looks like."
If Fox had any actual journalists, they could have asked her what communism is. Cuz Democrats ain't it.
The best irony is that there's no modern Capitalism without Marx. I never read Marx. I learned Capitalism from working near and listening to Fortune 500 executives. Then I started to read Marx.
Once you understand the definitions of the terms, Marx is saying exactly what Jamie Dimon and Elon Musk, among the rest, are saying.
Marx just thought it couldn't go on forever. Our Masters Of The Universe think they can keep moving the goalposts and changing the rules so it will go on forever.
Correct. I was raised by left-wing intellectuals, so it took me longer than it should to have understood this. Or, compared to people who never understand this; perhaps a lot less time. There's certainly nothing inevitable or organic about America's hyper-financialized system.
I had an "A-Hah!" moment when I was about 20 years old. I got a rush ticket for cheap to see a production of a Shakespeare comedy. The usual. The Duke of Earl shows up in Act 1, Scene 1, surrounded by flatterers, to bemoan the crisis. Hilarity ensues, and the Duke returns in Act 5, Scene 5 to pronounce himself well pleased with the resolution.
Next morning, I went to work at the scene shop. I had to drive a truck of stuff to a ballroom where my company was setting up for a corporate event. When I arrived, the CEO was rehearsing.
The CEO rehearsed his opening speech, surrounded by flatterers, addressing the current crisis. The flatterers gave their speeches, offering resolution. The CEO rehearsed his closing speech, pronouncing his pleasure with and confidence in their solutions.
The light bulb went on. And I, over the next few years, developed my "Get Rich Slow" scheme, which has paid off brilliantly over the interceding 37 or so years.
I knew I could never be the Duke. The flatterers are expendable, so I didn't want to be them. But there's always a trusted procurer who is welcome in all houses, even if they're rivals, who always survives. I figured out a niche that lets me be in that spot.
Hey, I didn't make the rules around here. I wouldn't have made these rules. But I didn't take vows of poverty or mortification, either.
Nobody in America even suggests "sharing the wealth." Some of us do suggest not boiling up the seed corn, and making actual investments rather than.mere speculation.
And even that is now "Communism;" so far down the path to collapse we've come.
"Little Donny Fuckface was arraigned last Thursday for masterminding the January 6th insurrection. after being released without having to post bail, the judge warned him not to commit any further crimes, and to basically shut the fuck up and not threaten or intimidate anybody — or his bail agreement would be revoked.
if this were you or I, our lawyers would tell us to shut the fuck up, and oh boy, would we shut the fuck up.
but Donald Trump is a moron — and nobody tells Donald Trump what to do. shutting the fuck up was never going to be an option. and so, to nobody’s surprise, less than 24 hours later, this happened:

Almost impossible...
I know, right? Eddie DeBartolo? Daniel Snyder? Jerry Jones?
I guess they finally got rid of Snyder. But how long did that take?
I completely agree. I have been around true old money and elites. That door is forever barred to OrangeSlime and his progeny.
We have the best boats, don't we folks?

Very perceptive I think. He'll always be a no-class guy from Queens. I think that may be a big part of his appeal to the Cleti out there.
His narcissism is what kept him out, and his tackiness.
Trump was a joke in NYC, and when Obama made fun of him at the Correspondent's Dinner, he convinced himself that he could be POTUS.
Yes, and/but:

To me, what is happening to Trump in our legal system is the opposite of "communism", but I don't have the mental clarity of MTG.

It is a description of one form of dynamic social survival strategy elevated to economic system.
That's a good way of looking at it. It's violence sublimated to an abstract form.
Basically, to Republicans "sharing the wealth" is always Communism (NOT that Soviet kind, or even the Chinese type though)...

One of the biggest (non-political) news stories of the past week was the cancer drug AOH1996 entering clinical trials.
TL;DR: The drug has been shown in cell and animal trials to specifically target/eliminate cancer while leaving healthy cells in tact.
I sure hope it works!
I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but one might maintain some skepticism. "Cancer" is shortand for a large class of dieases which differ in detail.
Yep. It is. I would still have to go through with radiation, and then take the drug/placebo.
I'm surprised cancer would be willing, and or able, to survive in Frank Luntz's body. I would think the greater toxicity would be Luntz's host body.
That guy has recently been on the talk shows bemoaning the sad state of polarization in America, that he helped create. Sheesh, what a putz.
I was watching something the other night, I'm not sure what. I can't sleep to silence. It's a weird CPTSD thing.
But, I was awake enough to notice that they mentioned Trump. This was way before he was in politics.
I laughed.

Hell, you've told me to shut the fuck up before. I listen from 2,000 miles away!
Did I really? I'm so sorry.
I made an ignorant joke that wasn't funny. You were absolutely right to call me down
I don't think his lawyers want him to shut up. I mean, they all appear to be as sharp as a bowling ball.
The only way Trump could STFU is if they take away his phone and put a ball gag in mouth.

The invisible laws that led to America’s housing crisis
This is all nibbling around the edges. 'Upzoning' without concomitant affordability requirements only creates new profit centers for speculators.
The dirty secret is that leveraged flippers and mass corporate speculation has captured the housing market, creating artificial demand--over 30% of transactions are now all-cash 'institutional' deals vs. historical norms of less than 10%.

California is loosening restrictions on some zoning, allowing ADUs in most places.
