'What is a ghost? A tragedy condemned to repeat itself time and again? An instant of pain, perhaps. Something dead which still seems to be alive. An emotion suspended in time.'
Ziggy, the scariest thing I've seen lately is Chernobyl, released in Trump 1.0 (2019?) and serialized on HBO/Max. I think it's 6 or 8 episodes. True crime/horror. I don't want the USA to become Russia, but here we are. I'm wondering just how complicit the republicans are with Putin.
The very first statute authorizing domestic use of the military during domestic emergencies, enacted in 1792 by a Congress full of the same folks who wrote and ratified the Constitution, expressly provided for judicial review in certain circumstances *before* the President could even send troops.
Just saw a poser Dodge Ram "Badlands" truck with the requisite MAGA and black American "We The People" flag stickers. It's jacked up a bit. I suspect a teeny peen.
"And as you know, many Democrats have looked at your move," Welker noted on Sunday. "They say the House is not in session because you don't want to swear in this newly elected member, the Congresswoman, Democratic Congresswoman from Arizona, who would be a critical vote to releasing the Epstein files."
"It's totally absurd!" Johnson replied. "This has nothing to do with that. It's another red herring."
Thirty-four days into the previous government shutdown, in 2019, reporters asked President Donald Trump if he had a message for the thousands of federal employees who were about to miss another paycheck. “I love them. I respect them. I really appreciate the great job they’re doing,” he said at the time. The following day, caving after weeks of punishing cable-news coverage, he signed legislation to reopen the government, lauding furloughed employees as “incredible patriots,” pledging to quickly restore their back pay, and calling the moment “an opportunity for all parties to work together for the benefit of our whole beautiful, wonderful nation.”
Doesn’t really sound like the same guy, does it? This time, it took Trump less than 24 hours to turn a shutdown into a weapon wielded against the civil servants he once praised and the opposing party he has long derided. The administration has targeted Democratic districts, announcing holds on more than $25 billion in projects in Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oregon, and elsewhere, with more cuts believed to be on the way. Trump has threatened to fire government workers en masse, casting the lapse in funding that led to their furloughs as an “opportunity” to further decimate their ranks and gut agencies he doesn’t like.
I was really chuffed right down to the soles of my feet a short while ago. An Indonesian artist has done a fan art of one of the characters from a story I wrote last month. Not the first time he's done it, either.
I had to look up "chuffed" because I always (mistakenly) think "offended" when I see the word, and it pretty much means the opposite of that. Congrads for making a good connect with your readers!
Ciaobella Jr is taking probability this semester, which was one of my favorite math classes. I liked how the questions often just seems like basic questions that a non-math person would understand, like what are the odds that any two people in a room filled with 23 people have the same birthday (answer: 50%)
He’s taking the 300-level version of the class, which is harder, and mostly math majors. But he’s holding his own. He’ll probably be a math minor (with a bio major).
The Supreme Court building's apparently having some renovation work done on the facade, but for a moment I looked at the scaffolding and screening and the first thing that came to mind was "anti-drone cope cage."
Donald Trump: "If I took this shirt off, you would see a beautiful beautiful person. But you would see wounds all over. I’ve taken a lot of wounds, I can tell you. More than I suspect any president ever."
His "wounds" don't begin to compare to those who have seen combat, or the wounds I carry around with me everyday, but normal people don't posture like a gigantic asshole bragging about bee-stings, or whatever bullshit he's dribbling on about.
what a mentally ill, pathetic piece of garbage he is.
Beautiful? You'd see a fat man with sagging old skin and saggy man boobs. With flaking off orange shit and probably a stench like you would not believe.
ETA: This is not to say that anyone who is overweight or old (which NONE of us can help) are ugly. I'm saying this putrid piece of shit needs to be called out as the disgusting fucking human he is in whatever terms we can muster.
Ah man! Missed a Guillermo del Toro movie. :(

Them spending the 4th of July with Putin doesn't answer your question?
Not really. There’s smoke, and then there’s fire. Perhaps one of our many, many intelligence agencies know.

Good news, America! The golf course was open yesterday despite the shutdown, and Trump was able to motor to 18 holes.
"motor to cheat on 18 holes." FTFY
Amazing how his score keeps getting better despite his advancing years, huh?
(I don't actually know anything about his golf scores, but I'd give odds that there's a value he doesn't let it rise above.)
"Eighteen holes-in-one! Matching the course record I set every time I've ever been here!"
Bummer. Need proof of life, though.

More evidence that his depraved body double is in the driver's seat!

Just more illegal shit that will end up in the courts.
Policy or prognosis, you decide.
I choose putrefaction. May the hand rot spread.

I mean, just, wow.
Congratulations!

I always have to remind myself that it means the opposite of offended, too.
Thank you!
He sees your words. How wonderful.
(grins)
Congratulations! That's awesome. <3

That's the one I sometimes teach! 🙂
He’s typing up his problem set answers in LaTeX for extra credit :)
Whoa! That's pretty nifty!
Does he use Overleaf? I've quit installing LaTeX on my computers and started doing it all on Overleaf.
(Overleaf is an online platform where you can type, compile, and save your Latex code.)
Not sure, I’ll have to ask him!
I wrote my Ph.D. thesis in LaTeX using Emacs. :)
Unfortunately, I have regained consciousness.
Go outside and welcome the day you have.
It's not welcome.
Scritch the pups. Appreciate the natural beauty around you. Eat and/or drink something tasty. Let those small sweet moments in through the cracks.
It's a dark time, and darker for those of us who struggle internally. The brief moments of nicetimes are more important than usual.
The Supreme Court building's apparently having some renovation work done on the facade, but for a moment I looked at the scaffolding and screening and the first thing that came to mind was "anti-drone cope cage."
Did you say renovation work on the facade?

My colleague mentioned Xi, and I agreed, tfg also has a Pooh Bear look (Pooh Bear libelz, I know!)
Every day another wonderful secret.
Darth Pooh.
Reminds me to take my fiber.
I find your lack of hunny disturbing.

When you dive into a pile of gold coins, you don’t swim like Scrooge McDuck. You get real torn up.
Sad.
Multiple shark attacks, presumably
The only wounds he has are due to IV needles and his ego.
Given that he thinks sex is like war, how many of those wounds are from his victims? Release the Epstein files.
He has buboes.
The mechanical owl from Clash of the Titans?
I thought Augusus St Cloud has that now.
Nice!
(thank you)
He has a witch's nipple.
"Don't look. Ethel!"
Too late!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Abraham Lincoln begs to differ.
The perpetual pissing, whining and moaning of a pathological attention whore.
He needs to fucking go. Now.
MOTHERFUCK I can't take any more of this shit.
We've seen his naked form on those parade balloons.
what.the.fuck.
His "wounds" don't begin to compare to those who have seen combat, or the wounds I carry around with me everyday, but normal people don't posture like a gigantic asshole bragging about bee-stings, or whatever bullshit he's dribbling on about.
what a mentally ill, pathetic piece of garbage he is.
the sound of his voice makes me nauseous.
And no one has the fucking BALLS to stand up and SAY IT RIGHT THERE IN REAL TIME!
He would have a meltdown the likes of which no one has ever seen. Isn't there ONE FUCKING PERSON WHO HAS THIS COURAGE?!?!?!?!

I was thinking more "scars" from where women have had to fight him off in attempted rapes.
If only someone could resign from the office oh wait…
Prove it.
I'd rather he didn't.
Bob! No!
I hope you meant for us to say it like, "Kal-El, no"
The poor, poor man. Always put upon and victimized, and so misunderstood. We can not imagine the depths of his pain.
Beautiful? You'd see a fat man with sagging old skin and saggy man boobs. With flaking off orange shit and probably a stench like you would not believe.

"Beauty is only skin deep, but ugly is to the bone"
Anyone think the Felonious Fuck has ever heard this old aphorism?
Probably not.
Unfortunately the proper wound has not arrived.
Boo fucking hoo asshole.
