"More than 30 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire on Sunday as they went to receive food at an aid distribution point set up by an Israeli-backed foundation in Gaza, according to witnesses,, with a hospital run by the Red Cross confirming it was treating many wounded.

Witnesses told the Guardian that Israeli forces had opened fire as they headed toward the aid distribution site in Rafah run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF)."

Saw James Carville on MSNBC this morning. I usually think he's overrated and a font of the best wisdom that 1996 has to offer, but he said two things I agree with. First, shitcan the term "oligarch". They need to be called what they really are: Rich Scum. Second: sure, go ahead and engage the Bros, but also point out that they need to , as he put it, "game up". Women in academia and the professions are getting ahead because they put in the goddamn work. They are the ones sitting in the front of the classrooms with their hands in the air, and in the libraries at night. Men need to do more of that.

Our pal T. Wrecks always makes good points about media bias. Regarding "What has Biden done?" I go back to June 2022, when oil prices were extremely high (and electricity because of natural gas plants) and he called out the oil companies for profiteering. https://bidenwhitehouse.archives.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2022/06/22/remarks-by-president-biden-on-gas-prices-and-putins-price-hike/

By October, they had come down substantially. But all we heard about was a coming recession that never happened and inflation that was blamed on Biden but never explained as to what caused it. All you heard was people bitching about it, again, with no attempt at explaining it.

<Biden said at a labor union event this month that Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N), opens new tab "made more money than God this year" and sent a letter to seven oil and gas companies calling on them to increase production to help ease the burden on consumers.

Biden, who campaigned on a promise to reduce dependence on fossil fuels which contribute carbon emissions linked to climate change, is leaning on the industry to curb inflation. Oil and gas companies are reaping higher profits than they have in decades and mostly returning that windfall to shareholders in the form of buybacks.

Industry executives complain Biden isn't asking for help in the right way. "Your administration has largely sought to criticize, and at times vilify, our industry," Chevron CEO Michael Wirth wrote in an open letter to Biden released on Tuesday. "The outreach from the administration is lacking," said Frank Macchiarola, a senior policy executive at the American Petroleum Institute trade body.

Asked about the Chevron CEO's letter, Biden said "I didn’t know they’d get their feelings hurt that easily."> https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/deep-rift-lies-behind-bidens-criticism-oil-gas-industry-2022-06-22/

Who is included the statistics for "long term" unemployment? Or "unemployed" at all? Is the number just the people who are claiming benefits or do they also count people who can't claim any longer (or who never did claim), and people who just gave up looking? I'm assuming they don't count SAH parents and people who *could* be working in paid employment but are being financially supported by someone else.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm just wondering out loud.

Who is included?

Individuals are included in long-term unemployment statistics if they are:

Not employed (have not worked for pay for at least one hour in the reference period).

Available to work and actively seeking employment within the past four weeks (or as specified by the survey).

Have been continuously unemployed for the minimum required period (either six months or one year, depending on the country or organization)

So far the Russians have lost at least 3 A-50's. Sounds like they only had a handful operational at the start of the war.

This might have been the last A-50U that got taken out.

And several billion dollars of literally irreplaceable heavy bombers.

Looking at the numbers on Wikipedia, Russia just lost perhaps as much as half its operational bomber fleet.

Even back in the glory days of the USSR this would have been a disaster of the first order and just building replacement aircraft would take several years.

But we’re grading the two party’s on a much different scale here. To say that Biden didn’t deliver on his promises and inspire confidence in voters is a lie. The only thing Trump did In 2024 was get indicted on 91 felonies, convicted of 34, lose a rape defamation case, lose a real estate fraud case, and ramble about sharks, batteries and Arnold Palmer’s penis.

And yet everyone acts like Trump is this amazing politically savvy genius and Biden is the worst thing to ever happen to America.
