I decided to try the oatmeal cookie recipe on the lid of the oatmeal container. I substituted dates for most of the raisins, but no bother (not enough raisins). I emboozened the fruit with some rum and blasted them in the microwave for a bit. Next time, Ima spike ‘em even moar booze, because flavor.
Result? Pure magic. One downside of the magic is that they disappear. Quickly.
There's a little more to it-- can't let a good crisis go to waste. Iowa Guv Kim Reynolds says that even though COVID rates are more than double what they were in the spring when she closed Iowa schools, they have to open this fall and have half their instruction in person. I think the state GOP hoping to use this to break one of the last public employee unions, the Iowa State Teachers' Association, through death and resignation of existing teachers and "emergency" replacements of anyone who can fog a mirror and an "R" on their voter registration card.
