Well, it's back to work tomorrow. The hubs has been hunting, so I've had the house to myself, which has been nice.
So... yesterday I visited my friends at the Texas version of Grey Gardens. A woman and her daughter, in their eighties and forties, respectively, and a girl of about eight. The older lady has been diagnosed with metastatic cancer. She's about to start clinical trials.
The house... is beyond filthy. I mean, there were about twelve dog turds piled up by the very nice front door, like someone had swept them there and walked away. Every flat surface of the house was covered in layers and layers of everything you could imagine. There was food on the floor. There was garbage on the floor. It wasn't possible to sit on the furniture without carving out a place to do so for all the clothing, blankets and other items.
And this is a nice house on a nice lot, with a pool. I'd love to live in it, only I don't think it is habitable anymore.
The older lady has a LOT of land and oil wells out in West Texas. She was telling me that she got a two million dollar payment from some Chinese company, recently. I believe her.
So I was trying my darnedest to get them to hire a hazmat team with three dumpsters, and just removing everything in the house that was not a family heirloom or medication, and just starting over again. Take it all out, get it all cleaned, and then just get new stuff.
I love these people like family, but I know that they're never going to clean that house. They've been like this since I've been a girl and first started visiting, forty years ago. It's much worse, now, though.
I've said it repeatedly, and I still say it. When the economy falls apart, that and that alone will cause trump's supporters to abandon him. My husband is a trump man and all he talks about is how the economy is booming. It is, for him, but my husband's income has always been cyclic. It rises and falls every few years. When his income falls and his investments bust, he'll stop supporting trump. Then and only then. Unfortunately, that's our retirement income he's gambling with.
So, basically, we'll have to become poor again before my husband stops supporting trump.
