Trump’s idiot lawyer, Alina Habba, who already got herself slapped with a million dollar penalty for election fraud nonsense, just went on TV and said Trump “needs no time to prepare” for his cases. Because he’s very smart and is honest, so what’s to prepare for? I’m sure Trump’s motions to delay his trials until after the Nov 2024 election will go very well now, with her video being played for the judges. His attorneys want “years” to bilk Trump out of legal fees and ride the gravy train, no matter what the outcome is. But Habba is sure he’s ready now, so bring on the juries!

I just read this one the other day and really enjoyed it. The author lives about an hour or two south of me!

Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher

An original, subversive fairytale about a kind-hearted, toad-shaped heroine, a gentle knight, and a mission gone completely sideways.

Thornhedge is Sleeping Beauty reimagined: What if the princess was awful? What if you’re a fairy guardian and really struggling with your job because your charge is a menace? This is the story of Toadling and the monster she must keep locked away.

A towering wall of brambles and a curse have held a princess for centuries. After so much time, a gentle knight approaches, undaunted by arms-sharp thorns. He’s here to free the captive and break the curse, but lofty as these aspirations are, Toadling has no intention of allowing anyone to vanquish this spell. Walls keep things out, but also hold things in, and no one was meant to cross those thorns.

[...]and then I thought about what it must have been like for the first humans to let a fucking wolf, maybe only a few generations from the wild, behold their infant child. Like man can u believe that? Maybe this alliance is only a few years old and sure you’ve seen the wolf’s kids but now you’ve got one of your own. And even though you’ve seen this wolf tear out the throats of creatures that could kill you, this wolf is your family. This wolf is your friend, you love them and they love you and you gotta show ‘em the new kid, look, friend, I had a child. I know you are wild and dangerous, but look at this, my most precious thing, sniff him, give him a lil lick, his children and your children will be bound together for thirty thousand fucking years because I love you

There’s a set of preserved footprints from 30k years ago that is a young child and a wolf standing side by side can you fucking imagine? Maybe the kid’s mom was like “hey go get some water from the stream, but take the wolf with you. I trust him, he will protect you.”

Prepping berries for my Wonkmeet contribution, I found a babby strawberry! I put it into some water to see if I can get it to root. If so, new strawberry plant.

Don’t strawberries propagate with runners?

Expand full comment

Dunno. This is new for me. Let's find out!

[searches] According to this article, yes. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/strawberry/growing-strawberry-runners.htm

Runners are the easiest way to get more plants.

Since i have this snipped stem, it should still root. And then if that plant gets more runners, more berries. 😁
