It wasn’t “the left” that Mars decided to redesign some cartoon mascots or make the female ones more “empowered.” That was good old fashioned capitalism in action. Mars didn’t make Green unfuckable just to piss off Tucker Carlson. They did it because they thought it would sell more candy. That’s literally the only reason any company tweaks their marketing campaign: to sell more product.
The fact that is, the right looks for shit like this to get outraged about because it fires up their base. “The left” had nothing to do with emasculating Mr. Potatohead or J&J selling Bandaids in different shades of brown. Companies always looking at ways to broaden their market share. And many times, it involves reaching out to people the right would prefer we’d continue to marginalize.
But none of that is because of any pressure from the left. But any effort to reach out to marginalized people is going to cause a shit fit from the right. Because that’s how the right operates.
If they didn't distract the old with M&M outrage, they might notice their Social Security and Medicare getting cut.
