The silver lining is that I could be entirely wrong (it's not easy to parse politics) and he might win and be a great President. You never know. On the other hand, based on his history I did predict that trump would be a deplorable President.
Iowa is mostly important because it's first. We really need the Dems to switch to a national primary day and give all states equal weight. Iowa only has 41 delegates. This is the national picture:"2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries. 1,990 of 3,979 pledged delegate votes needed to win the presidential nomination at the convention's first ballot. (2,376 of all 4,750 delegate votes needed to win any subsequent ballots at a contested convention.)"
It is a form of voter suppression. Having to physically attend a caucus can be a hardship for people with few resources: the handicapped, the elderly, the poor, etc. The Dems should get rid of it and go to a vote-by-mail system everywhere.
Is simple too hard? I don't get it at all. Because they have had a shitty system for since forever apparently, they have to stick with it and after last night, it should be very obvious that its time for a complete change.
In this respect Sanders and trump are somewhat alike. At their rallies they appeal primarily to emotion, including emotions directed against same-party opponents (though Sanders is not a Dem except when it benefits him). It works. Many voters respond almost entirely to emotional appeals and don't understand plans and rationality--they're boring.
Perhaps we need a candidate who can do both. Some of the Dems could learn a lesson from Sanders' style, though hopefully without the contempt and dislike directed against other Dems. They don't seem to understand that our country is run by parties and the ability to work with a party is invaluable.
The trumpsters overdue it, of course, but they have gained a lot of power by supporting moscowmitch and trump no matter how despicable their actions.
National Primary Day is probably unconstitutional, but the DNC could just rule that anyone who runs in the Iowa caucuses is banned from all debates. Problem solved.
And this one just hit the fan. Which is probably a good thing since Iowa should not play a big role in choosing a Presidential candidate. It has about 1% of total delegates. We need to hold all primaries on the same day so all votes are equal. Do it, Dems.
Better yet, have everyone vote by mail. It's much simpler for people who are home bound for whatever reason. It virtually eliminate the chance of virtually nonexistent voter fraud. There would need to be special arrangement for people who don't have a fixed address, but that's doable.
But you don't get your child back until they have been officially registered and voted 'D' in one election.

Don't they keep asses in a stable? Or is it just horse's asses?

Caucuses are caca.

When did we ever have that? We need it, though.
If. Only. We will be suffering dissections of this for months to come.
