Much like grey squirrels have driven red squirrels out of NC, the Q wing (enabled by FOX and the like) is slowly driving that subspecies out of existence. So this still might be a "last chance to see" situation.

"...or to translate feminist and social justice theories into service and activism."

Activism?

Yikes! Now I'm scared shitless.

Okay, maybe not scared.

Because nothing underscores alleged modern Republican values of free speech and limited government more than government ordering universities as to what they can and cannot say. FREEDUMB baby! Besides, I am guessing here and may be wrong but I am willing to bet that gender studies are elective classes. Cletus and Bubba aren't being forced to learn anything they are already so proudly ignorant about

Also, what, do these dim-bulbs think they're in the Texas legislature???

I may be going out on a limb here, but is the University of Wyoming mandating that everyone in the state enroll in these courses? Couldn't one just... not take those classes if they are worried they will get thought cooties?

Rules for thee, not for me. The Serena Joys of the world are happy to use their positions of power to worsen the lives of other women… when the patriarchy they enable and supercharge eventually comes around to drag them back into the kitchen, they’re always super surprised.

Oh ever so much this, I made it through college without a single woman's study class.

Really? I used to see the opposite when we lived in Michigan, we shot red squirrels any time they showed up. If there were red squirrels then there were no black or grey squirrels because they would kill their young, and the same with songbirds because they would eat the eggs. Nasty little bastards.

My aunt was going to neuter her male cat, but it caught a red squirrel one day and it did the job for her.

Wow. The red squirrels down here were described as smaller and less aggressive than the greys, and that's why we don't have reds anymore.

I took it. Way more useful than calculus, and I'm not joking. I'm a scientist, BTW, and got a shit load out of my women's studies class. I still think about stuff we read, 20 years later.

This is super confusing to me. Red and grey squirrels coexist over a lot of eastern North America. They do tend to have slightly different habitats, and very different food gathering strategies, and are vastly different in size. Where in NC are you? I grew up in Wilmington and hardly ever saw red squirrels there, but it's not really their habitat. Fox squirrels, though, they'd be in the longleaf pines.

I live in Maine and have red and grey squirrels in my yard. Chipmunks too. They pretty well leave each other alone.

Y'know, you're the second person to say "That seems wrong to me" and now I'm beginning to doubt my memory of having read it at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. A cursory search of Teh Googles seems to indicate that the small red squirrel is pretty much only found in the mountains, while fox squirrels are mostly along the coast and the Sandhills, with grey squirrels here in the Piedmont. So maybe I'm remembering something else and conflating it with squirrels. I dunno. Maybe one of these days I'll visit the NCMNS again and see if I can find anything like what I remember there.

Who knows? I also found the notion of shooting red squirrels to be odd, which someone else reported doing.

Eastern grey squirrels are invasive in the UK and other parts of Europe, and are endangering native red squirrels. So the idea that squirrels mess with each other isn't far fetched.

I always assumed when Patriotic-est R People criticized authoritarian regimes like China were censoring what their people could see and read and discuss, they were doing so because it was wrong, and, you know, the opposite of freedom.

Little did I know it was just jealousy, I guess?

"WHY DO THEM CHINEEZ GET TO DO IT?! THEY'RE USING UP ALL THE GOOD CENSORSHIP AND NOW WE WON'T HAVE NONE!!!"
