Very well said, Robyn Pennacchia! It had seemed to me that Mr. Sasse -- in no way does he deserve to be called "Senator" -- was a sanctimonious hypocrite like Susan Collins and Jeff Flake. But Sasse is in a separate category of his own immorality.

If one listens to his well-modulated voice without paying any attention to what he says, one has thefeeling that he is a very nice and decent guy. He speaks with the ring of sincere conviction, and this impression is reinforced when his voice rises with apparently heartfelt passion.

Who wouldn't want to believe what he says? Well, anyone who realizes after listening to his wordsthat he's no more a champion of women and their rights than the berserk misogynist and sexualpredator Brett Kavanaugh and his idol, the malignant narcissist, sexual harasser, and rapist Donald Trump.

And that Sasse actually believes the nonsense he spouts doesn't make him any less evil than theconscious hypocrites like Jeff Flake and Susan Collins!

For a very brief moment in time, “Here comes Secretariat” were the most exciting words in sports.

That move on the turn was unbelievable. I love the fact that in the movie Secretariat they didn't even try to recreate it, they just showed the family at home watching the race on TV and played the real thing.

Always upfist Secretariat. I can practically recite this race call in my sleep. And yes, this is the kind of horse race I want to see in November.

Do they even listen to what they are saying? I love the women in my family, I'd hate to see them assaulted. Also I am totally going to support a man who has been credibly accused of sexual assault, is against female reproductive rights and acts like a toddler when under pressure. But hey it's not like he's a Democrat right?

That first sentence is profound. It isn't flashy or anything, it's just the reality of this. Haven't they had any opposition? I'm beginning to think they haven't. And that rank and file Republican voters believe in hierarchy period. So that's it.

Some GOP senators simply feel uncomfortable being despised for their actions, that's all. When asked if his concern about whether the FBI probe was truncated would lead him to withhold his YES vote for Kavanaugh, one GOP senator said "No, that's silly." The idea that anyone on that side would risk being banished to the kids' table for however long the old, angry men feel they deserve it by voting their conscience is what's silly. I would be absolutely shocked if ANY Rs vote "NO" tomorrow or Saturday. Some simply want a few moments to try to acquit themselves of their actions by saying they very much sympathize with victims. REAL victims, not the ones who stand in the way of the GOP agenda, of course. And since we can often never know 100% who the REAL victims are, and not the political pawns, don't we owe it to our long, storied history of white, male privilege to foster doubt of those victims so that white, male, Yale grads don't lose out on the very best jobs?

"He gets to act like he is above it all, because he is. He is able to look down upon all of us and say "Ugh, what are you all even fighting about? I am fine! Let's all get along!" Nothing is at stake for him."

A sickeningly spot-on summary.

How refreshing to read this and mingle tears of laughter with the typical tears of righteous anger. Also, thank you for the advice concerning throwing the tissue boxes. I'm pretty sure I've forfeited the damage deposit on my apartment by now.

It won't matter at this point. But imagine if, on the day trump nominated this guy, Chuck Schumer and every Dem on the Judiciary Committee held a press conference saying, "Hey! This guy has NEVER tried a case!" Imagine if they'd kept pointing that out.

They'd now have a solid fallback position as to why Kavanaugh isn't qualified. It still might not have mattered. But it was a weakness that the Dems utterly failed to exploit. The Republicans would not have made the same mistake and that's why they're appointing Supreme Court Justices and we're not.

Excellent article, Robyn. However, there are lots of judges The Dotard could bring up to overturn Roe v. Wade. From what I've read Koat Hanger Kavanot is special because he a) believes in the imperial presidency, keeping The Dotard unindicted and in office and b) he would let federal crimes pardoned be unable to be brought up in state court. And I think Lindsey Graham has some funny money dealings the SCOTUS may rule on.
