You Guys, John Boehner Said A Swear!

Remember just before Christmas, when we told you how everybody was dumping on poor John Boehner , for the minor crime of being a total mess? Turns out all this fiscal cliff hullaballoo may have taken a toll on Old Weepy.

Late last week, see, while Boehner was in the midst of the legislative cat-herding that is convincing the far-right members of his caucus to act like actual human beings, he had to walk through the White House lobby. Also walking through that particular lobby in that particular White House: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Seeing an opportunity for diplomacy, Boehner paused. He raised his hand, pointed at Reid, and, doing his best Sam Rayburn impression, said: "Go fuck yourself."

It's true! Politico told us! They offered up a 2700-word quadruple-byline story and we couldn't even get past the first scene:

It was only a few days before the nation would go over the fiscal cliff, no bipartisan agreement was in sight, and Reid had just publicly accused Boehner of running a “dictatorship” in the House and caring more about holding onto his gavel than striking a deal.

“Go f— yourself,” Boehner sniped as he pointed his finger at Reid, according to multiple sources present.

Reid, a bit startled, replied: “What are you talking about?”

Boehner repeated: “Go f— yourself.”

So yeah, Politico 's censorship means maybe it wasn't the fuck word, but unless Boehner told Reid to go frankincense himself for the holidays, he probably said "fuck."

For further insight into the negotiations:

The harsh exchange just a few steps from the Oval Office — which Boehner later bragged about to fellow Republicans — was only one episode in nearly two months of high-stakes negotiations laced with distrust, miscommunication, false starts and yelling matches as Washington struggled to ward off $500 billion in tax hikes and spending cuts.

Ok, which one of you "fellow Republicans" leaked this ditty to the press? Mayhaps Majority "Leader" Eric Cantor, he of the NOT VOTING FOR THE DEALS ?

In any case, now we know that an adult swore in the White House, which is more fun to make fun of than chained CPI and the payroll taxes rising on everybody right this second. Good job, guys!
