What kind of person are you if mocking someone's death is the thing you do to feel better about being an asshole? I'll cop to muttering 'good' under my breath when someone I've despised has passed away, but that's a far cry from saying it in public for literally a whole world to see

Trump will be the ultimate test of that.

Ta, Robyn. Erin Elizabeth is the paramour of Joseph Mercola, about whom you have written at some length. Her story is truly weird; so weird that it might be an invention. Or maybe she just needs an intervention.

Using "jab" instead of "vaccine" is an immediate red flag.

The other day, someone who my Aunt hired to do yard work at my house told me that the vaccine causes cancer because they know several people who got it and now have cancer. I question the veracity of knowing several people with cancer at the same time, but that's besides the point. I am not the one to come to with that shit. So I told the story of my developmentally disabled sister who was basically murdered by my father and his wife when they convinced her that the vaccine was poison and covid was a hoax. I didn't spare any of the grotesque details either. The dozens of strokes and brain bleeds she suffered in the three week time period she was in the hospital in a coma on a ventilator. The fact that she was getting gangrene in all of her limbs and that even if she had managed to live they were going to have to amputate at least three of her limbs. All of it. This lady looked at me and said that doesn't sound like covid, that sounds like she was being abused somehow. Then she went outside and smoked a fucking menthol cigarette in my driveway, smug in the knowledge that she was smarter than everyone else for not taking that cancer causing vaccine. Fuck my life. This is why I don't go out and meet new people anymore.

Holy Jesus.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your beloved sister.

Thank you for telling the idiot about her, even if it didn’t make a difference—it made a difference to me.

Thanks Babe. It really makes me sad how deeply the disinformation has penetrated into the national consciousness. I put a great deal of stock in the truth and my whole life has been dedicated to learning how things actually work and really, just learning new information, and I've always been pretty careful how I come about that knowledge, meaning that I fact check and I do the work to make as sure as possible that I'm not spreading ignorance. And that was the case even before this whole covid thing. The assault on objective reality has been deeply painful for me and with my sister, it hits in an altogether different and deeper way. 😞

I've heard about your sister before, but it must be SO painful to you to have to listen to this shit. May her memory always be a blessing.

Thank you Zyxomma. It definitely is painful. Her death is still like an open wound for me because those who should be held responsible never will be and that just upsets me to think about.

Maybe all of this "it was the vaccine that killed so-and-so" stuff is payback for those ghoulishly gleeful websites during the pandemic that documented the deaths of anti-vaxxers. Remember those? Most of them followed the same format: Screenshots of the schmuck's anti-vax tweets, memes, etc., often followed by news of the schmuck's hospitalization, and invariably followed by news of the schmuck's death. Chilling, kinda funny in a sick way, and very effective. It all must have burned the asses of those guys, who are now trying for payback schadenfreude.

Of course that's hard when the facts just aren't on your side. To paraphrase our favorite squeaky-voiced pundit: Viruses don't care about your feelings.

1: Vaccines

2: Being a Clinton associate

3: Being an Obama associate

4: Cancer (non-vaccine variants)

Every time some MAGAt surfaces to share imaginary grievances and insult sane people, I think of that widely shared Drumph rally photograph of the hideous smug couple in their matching "f**k your feelings" t-shirts. There's nothing dearer to their hearts than riding roughshod over others, as long as there will be no reprecussions.

My experience with anti-vaxxers goes all the way back to the time when the Colorado legislature was mulling some regulations in 2016 concerning vaccine exemptions in schools; there were proposals to tighten the exemption policies for the state and require more documentation to claim a 'religious exemption'.

The antivax crowd was not pleased and showed up in force to complain in the committee meetings. I attended as an observer for a Science In Medicine lobbying group.

This is where I learned that some parents of autistic children cope with the autism by blaming it on vaccines. Nothing could shake this belief. Were they in pain about this situation? Yes, they were in obvious pain. Did they have an explanation for why they were in pain? They sure did have that explanation.

I kept my mouth shut and did my reporting job. One thing I have learned is that arguing with true believer MOMMIES is not going to go well. And it may even be a bit dangerous.

I have a lawyer friend who worked for the DOJ here in DC, defending the government from people who believed their kids had been damaged by required vaccines. Some of the stories were really pathetic "we just want a wheelchair ramp for Gary" their totally disabled 45-year-old son. Some were mendacious, ie parents would change dates on medical records (could be checked by ink analysis). Developmental delays like autism often show up around the time kids get more vaccines, age two or so. The DOJ took on this role so that vaccine developers wouldn't go bankrupt from lawsuits.

I think the stupidest(and maybe sad/weird as well) thing about all this is how these ppl just dig in. My oldest friend of 35 years was a kidney transplant recipient, so she was on the shortlist for the first available vaccines at John Hopkins. Her idiot(and that's being nice) long time boyfriend talked her out of it. Just about a year later, in Nov 2021, she got covid after they went to a wedding in Florida. She died right before Christmas and at her memorial service, EVERYONE was talking about how 'we woke vaxxed people are allllll going to be sorry when we die of heart attacks.'

It was un-frikkin-believable! THIS 45 YEAR OLD DIED and you're talking about other people dying??? Her parents were like second parents to me, but after calling all BLM protesters 'terrorist'(I said to her mom "So, tiny, you think I'm a terrorist?", she's like 'well, not you but...." and they just became so indoctrinated and I miss them, but I can't deal with that...sorry, obviously I'm still going through it, I lost my only sister to suicide two months earlier. Life's rough sometimes....

Sorry for babbling🤦🏻‍♀️☮️

Thank you for sharing this though. When my father-in-law died right before the vaccine (he was a pharmacist and nobody in town wore masks) all those “good Christians” just kept talking about how stunned they were because he was so healthy and wanted to…well—not nice things.

Bex, I am so so sorry this happened to you. My father and his wife murdered my disabled sister with anti vax bullshit and they are still fully unrepentant as well. I hate them and I will never forgive them for that. I hope you're able to find some peace inside. It is something else to hear people advocate for harm. Be well Bex ❤️

How exactly does the vaccine make one's heart stop working?

Expand full comment

There have been cases of myocarditis which appears related to the vaccine, and studies confirm that risk. However, the risk is very low, and myocarditis is far more likely to be caused by catching Covid. Plus, myocarditis can be treated, and isn’t always fatal. The statistics are available, and the CDC has announced these risks with bullhorns. But in these clever minds, these rare incidents are proof that they are right. Covid has killed about 7 million people. The risk of myocarditis is 2.1 per 100,000 vaccinated people, 21 per million. Not death necessarily, just myocarditis. The Cleveland Clinic cites 80% survival rate 1 year after having it. So only a fraction of people die from it, and few will suffer from it due to the vaccine at all.

They have not released a cause of death. It could be a cerebrovascular event. Years ago a doctor in an office I worked in died of a ruptured aneurysm in his brain in his late 30s. The autopsy showed the vascular malformation he had was present since birth but undetected and caused no symptoms. Then you have situations like John Ritter, an aortic tear that caused almost sudden death. So a cardiac event may not be the cause of death anyway.
