I'm in Virginia where the Democratic candidate for AG, who is black, texted some yuck stuff. I'm not a fan, and yes, we could do the "what about game". To parse it in the details, he was being specific (again, I'm not defending him) and the YR's are talking about entire groups of people the would like to make disappear. BUT-the Democratic party as a whole does try to stand up for the rights of all people, for freedom of speech and freedom of worship, and freedom from want. I'm so so so weary of the gleeful bad attitudes and bad language of so many people. It's juvenile behavior, enabled by 47 et al, and I'm not sure there's a good nationwide antidote.

Wrote my senators, Tillis and Budd, this morning. I believe they have made their choice to abandon the country to Trump and his goons:

Senator: The Vice President excuses Nazi extremism talk as pranks by young Republicans and ICE Gestapo goons use tear gas on peaceful protestors who argue with them. Trump defaces the White House and wants a US coin with him on it, plans a grand memorial to himself - and you? A united States senator feel helpless. If I did not find you a weak, helpless, little man who talks big about your accomplishment before - I do now. Not one of you Republican congresspeople are worth arguing with now. Shall I just send you all Nazi armbands and flags for your office now and make your treason visible? US Senator, my ass. Traitor is your name and will remain for the future

Here is a list of all of the names and some of their pics of Young Republicans involved in the racist and antisemitic chats — not only men, but women. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/full-list-of-young-republicans-involved-in-offensive-chats/ar-AA1OvlZJ

I followed the link, These creeps are only the tip of the Republican hateful iceberg. I do not trust anyone who says they are a Republican to tell the truth because Trump is pulling their strings Not one Republican has come forth to call for change of course, with two notable exceptions, so, they are going to the graveyard of treasonous politicians for the rest of American history.

'Trump says he authorised CIA in Venezuela as Maduro says 'no to regime change'

"US President Donald Trump has confirmed a report he authorised the CIA to conduct covert operations inside Venezuela, provoking outrage from the South American nation's leaders.

Speaking at the White House, Trump said the US "is looking at land" as it considers further strikes on drug cartels in the region.

"I authorised for two reasons really," Trump said in a highly unusual acknowledgement from a US commander-in-chief about an intelligence organisation whose activities are typically shrouded in secrecy.

"Number one, they [Venezuela] have emptied their prisons into the United States of America."

He added: "And the other thing are drugs. We have a lot of drugs coming in from Venezuela, and a lot of the Venezuelan drugs come in through the sea, so you get to see that, but we're going to stop them by land also."

Venezuela plays a relatively minor role in the region's drug trade. The president would not be drawn on whether the CIA's goal was to topple Maduro, for whom the US has offered a $50m (£37m) bounty.

Standard USA talk about South American rule change. The CIA has given us nothing but dictators in Central and South America. This will be no different. South American governments would be wise to be very forceful in their responses. Trump cannot be trusted on or with anything!!!

The not-semi ironic thing about all this is that the people (if you want to call them that) involved in these chats are as far as you can get from Master of the Universe material.

[ Caution, caution, caution--body shaming ahead] they all are, to a person, hideous. And fat. One of them, forget his name, looks like he's booking 400 lbs., and wears a very ill-fitting blue suit in the photos I've seen.

Yes, I'm bad and intolerant. And...?

If you're old enough, and I am, you remember that they've always talked this way. Lots of Democrats, if not exactly liberals did too. It's not new. What's new is that they know there are people who matter who don't like it when it's public.

One thing we can all agree on is that conservatives love their traditions.

Still and all, you don't have to look at what they say in private to know where they're coming from. All you have to do is ask, "Who do their policies benefit?"

It occurs to me that a goodly percentage of domestic animals -- cats and dogs, mostly, and many others -- through our love and care, concern, admiration, and resources live as close to perfect lives as possible. Their reliable food and shelter and healthcare and daily routines offer them unmatched degrees of freedom of action and inaction. And, once we consider their lives in the context of the vast material and scientific wealth which now surrounds us, we see that there is little preventing humans from providing the same to one another.

THIS is why Evan rules. Digging down, naming names. Looking beyond the latest offal office diversionary distraction (less of which is extremely helpful). Keep it up. And yes, I donate when I can.

Kirk was no different than these yahoos. And Trump just dishonored the Medal of Freedom for memorializing a man who had a hateful message as well. Adults do not misspeak. They know perfectly well what they are saying. I do not mis-hear, nor take things out of context when this kind of language comes out of their mouths.

It's like the asshloles who go out to shoot something political up, expecting to be hailed as a martyr by those they're trying to impress like Islamic terrorists, but the first thing out of everyone's mouths, friends, family, important Republicans, is, "He's a radical leftist."
