Careful, there. When your spouse owns a gun, you're considered a gun owner. When he shoots you with it, that's statistically gun-owner on gun-owner violence. I have concerns about the validity of that.

He actually made reference to guns being needed to kill deer not good enough to kill criminal headed at you. All I could think was... assume criminal dead.

One night a long time ago a teenage girl ran up to our house, pounded on the door, then opened it and ran in before we got there. Now some might wonder why I didn't just stone cold shoot her. First, I had no gun. Second, it turns out she was running from some guy who had tried to attack her. Ours was the closest house she saw with lights on. She came to us for protection. And she got it.
