This is going to sound mean but July is the biggest dog show month in Texas with big shows in Dallas, San Amtonio, and Houston. The Houston shows wrapped up last weekend and I don't want to be near a dog show for another month, if that. I don't get tired of being around the doggos, just the humans.

“Dafuq?” Hahahaha cute puppo

DAFUQ was what we called the part of Manhattan where daughter and her husband lived: district around First under the Queensboro bridge. You could not drive to her building without becoming enmeshed in traffic on Second going to the bridge. Luckily there was a great beer hall next door and a strip club/steak house two buildings away. /s First is basically endless bars, restaurants and coffee shops uptown and down.

Randos don't seem to like Kamala Harris. Why? I was waiting to be seen by the dental hygienist yesterday morning, and got into a nice discussion about the state of things with a woman who was somewhere between 65 and 80. She said no one likes Harris and I said "Why not?" To which she replied "Have you seen her in interviews? Terrible." No one wants this woman near the Oval, but it feels like right wing propaganda wins again in the gaslighting efforts.

The Bernie Bros. don't like her either because she was a prosecutor. I keep telling my Bernie Bros. friends that when she was a prosecutor she was mostly dealing with child protection and domestic abuse cases; when she was the Attorney General of California, she cooperated with prisoners to improve conditions in state prisons even after an inmate lost their inmate appeal or the civil cases against CDCR.

She she very progressive and ready to fill the shoes that Biden is currently wearing. I think that Harris and AOC would make for an excellent Democratic ticket.

I really do think that most Bernie Bros. on line speak Russian as a first language and live in St. Petersburg.

Cars truly have become enshittified The pandemic exposed how dependent vehicles have become on unreliable and distracting electronics, cars that you can’t even perform basic maintenance on yourself anymore and of course are boring and look alike

This is why I prefer pre 2000s vehicles. They aren’t as dependent on electronics and you could still do some repairs yourself.

This didn't take long. The QAnon Cretins are now fully convinced that Senator Shelly Capito is Moscow Mitch's MKUltra handler, and when she bent over with her hand moving forward she was actually de-activating McConnell.

Yes, they do in fact believe that the Senate Minority Leader has an on/off switch.

As one user - the imaginatively-named "llllllllll " said, "Occam’s Razor makes sense as there’s no apparent pressing reason to shut him up".

So there you go, libs - proof that MKUltra exists and that obviously McConnell is not only an MKUltra-controlled humanoid but also almost certainly a reptilian.

Checkmake, libs!

RE: the RR contracts, “We know that many of our members weren’t happy with our original agreement,” Russo said" just might qualify as the understatement of the year. So the new industry standard appears to be four paid sick days, or 55% of what the originally proposed (with another three days deducted from vacation leave). The salient point here is, these four days cannot be carried or accumulated into ensuing years. While the provision isn't entirely a "use'em or lose'em" proposition (they can be paid for unused days or have them credited to their IRA/401ks), it does nothing to cover injuries or illnesses that last longer than four (or seven) days.

Financially, this is a chump change expense for the RR corp's that make tens of billions per year after taxes and operating expenses, and spend most of it on upper management compensation, investor dividends, stock buy-backs, and lobbying Congress and state leges to fight the unions; and keeps the unions understaffed, overworked, and on-call 24/7/365. IMO, the analogy is putting four-to-seven band aids on a broken arm instead of the splint/plaster cast it needs.

It is still a matter of record that Biden, Buttigieg and Walsh had at least 18-20+ months to twist arms to settle the dispute, but didn't get more engaged until the unions threatened to strike; then rushed in to give the industry what it wanted first, while kicking the union's can (pun intended) down the road for another seven months, and now have the temerity to crow from the rooftops how "pro-labor" they are, despite the meagerness of what was actually achieved. I think this is what conservatives meant by "the soft bigotry of low expectations".

This is why I'm a socialist and not a democrat. There a number of industries--transportation, energy, communications, health care, education, housing, banking--that should be nationalized as public utilities and operated by the federal government for the benefit of we, the people, not for enriching private investors and greedy CEOs. I appreciate that 55% of the proverbial loaf is better than the 0% the bosses were demanding, but it's still half a handful of crumbs. And no amount of overhyping changes that.

- What a shame it was that Harry did not know that there would be a hugely unpopular war fought in sweaty jungles coming up. Whites would have been clamoring for Black soldiers...

- "Justified " has a real Wesley Crusher problem: a kid you want to fast forward past. When Willa comes on in her 2015-called-and-wants-its-ironic-hat-back outfits to sulkily demand that Raylan take her along on his dangerous marshalling jobs the plot flops to a stop. Seriously, we didn't wait around all this time for "Raylan Givens:Divorced Dad". Fingers crossed that her part gets either a lot better or a lot more marginal.

Re: the Mitch McConnell episode yesterday, what Jeff Tiedrich said:

I don't wish ill health on anyone, even soulless ghouls like Mitch McConnell. But the hypocrisy is infuriating. Biden trips or takes a fall from his bike and it's a story for weeks. McConnell is clearly going into a decline and the reaction is crickets.

That Pluralistic article is long and scary. "But capitalism has finally run out of gas...but it wasn't replaced by socialism. Rather, capitalism has given way to feudalism..."

Actually, technofeudalism, I guess. Ugh. I read the article because the front camera on our car broke after a very tiny ding in the bumper busted the wire. It is $840 to fix it (and several days, it turns out). I'm like "who needs a front camera on their car?" but mr. cc is a child of Detroit, and cannot have an imperfect vehicle. Anyway, the article was not about the stupidity of car cameras at all. Turns out everything is much worse than I thought.

Imagine cute animal gif here.

This article made me think of Roosevelt apparently saving capitalism from a revolution; and how Biden may be doing something similar (pacifying MAGAts and socialists both from having a civil war). Am I off my rocker here?
