You may have read Cadillac Desert. Alfalfa is unprofitable without free water and should never have been grown in places where water is rationed. Some farmers, like some commercial fisherman, are unwilling to accept the long term necessity of conservation. Here in the eastern Sierra/western Mojave there still alfalfa growers drawing down our finite ancient aquifer.

Uh, why would IT workers (assuming you mean information technology) be involved here? I got that the original post was referring to "hicks from the sticks", not them.

And for what it's worth, diabetes can be genetic. I got it late in life, as did my mother (who died of cancer, not diabetes), as did her father (my grandfather), who got it when he was 90 (he died at 95). Point being that one CAN eat healthily and still get diabetes, or cancer, or have a heart attack, etc., anyway.

To wingnuts, the idea that members of congress helped the insurrectionists attack America is just a made up story. It was just a friendly visit to the capitol, not a riot nor an insurrection. So of course you make a faux friendly joke when you see the actual thing that you falsely claimed to be.

It was a joke, IT workers drink a lot of Mountain dew. Yes diabetes is absolutely genetic, but the amount of refined sugar people consume has gone WAY up since the 1900's and the advent of refined sugar in processed food products. Type 2 adult onset diabetes does have genetic factors. But those factors have to be triggered. The trigger is usually a crapload of sugar.

Just so bloody stupid. Damn. You should be in hiding. You should be on the run from the law by now. You provided real-time Pelosi location tracking for the freaking rioters. You believe that not everyone should have the right to vote. In short, you suck. Go away. Hard.

Asking low-intellects like Boebert to be "to be very, very thoughtful in the language they use" is like asking my cat to stop and think about grabbing that bird.

Ain't gonna happen.

One of them should have said, "well, unlike when YOU gave tours and live-tweeted the Speaker's location, there won't be any attempted coups tomorrow, so put that in your hash-pipe and smoke it, Boobert!"

But that group of visitors is much classier than I am.
