Communist is a patehtic insult. Like, the `950s call, and I realize none of these dickless wonders are beyond that point, but join the 21st century you dumb losers.

Edit: they also get really mad when you say it back. Calling them a commie over their desire to control everyone is funny as hell.

"A Newsmax segment on the event started out with the reporter intoning, “Communists always target the children, "

Why don't these outlets cover events happening in their viewers communities?

You can only cover so many Frank Sinatra "interpreters" before you go mad.

“Communists always target the children, and this weekend in New York City, Mayor Mamdani is playing babysitter.”

I would love to see this poll. I can only imagine the results if Newsmax ran it.

Who would you rather leave your child alone with?

Trump

Yes, good government types invariably turn to communism.

On Monday I talked about a growing rage, and my examples were from gubmint but other sectors also contribute. Let's look at the Tech Bros and AI.

> "Amazon is buying physical books, cutting off their bindings, scanning the pages for AI training, and destroying the originals, according to a new investigation from 404 Media that traced a roughly 1,000-book order to one of the company’s Las Vegas warehouses.

404 Media [404 article behind paywall] worked with a bookseller who received the order through Biblio, an online marketplace for used and rare books. The publication hid an AirTag inside one book and followed it to Amazon’s LAS8 warehouse in North Las Vegas, where an operation called VGT3 scans books for AI training.

[...]

The company did not answer questions about how many books it has purchased, when the program began, which products use the scans, or whether it screens out rare or scarce copies before destroying them." https://www.inc.com/georgia-fearn/amazon-buying-up-older-books-destroying-after-scanning-back-to-2024/91392000

--and--

> "Amazon, which started off selling books, is destroying rare texts to train AI

Amazon is buying tons of rare books, cutting off their spines, and scanning them for AI training

[...]

Rare books, especially ones that are out of print or impossible to find on the internet, offer a new source of coveted training data." https://techcrunch.com/2026/08/17/amazon-once-an-online-bookseller-is-destroying-rare-books-to-train-ai-models/

It's not just Amazon. Here's Anthropic:

> "[Key takeway] Documents made public in a lawsuit from authors against Anthropic earlier this year revealed the company had bought millions of physical books, hired contractors to slice their bindings off, fed the pages into high-speed scanners and then shredded the originals in a venture called “Project Panama.”

[...]

HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED?

Nobody knows. Court documents unsealed during the Anthropic case revealed the company planned to scan between 500,000 to 2 million books over a single six-month vendor contract. Internal documents said it planned to “destructively scan all the books in the world.” ...

CRUCIAL QUOTE

“Project Panama is our effort to destructively scan all the books in the world,” an internal Anthropic planning document said. “We don’t want it to be known that we are working on this.”" https://www.forbes.com.au/news/world-news/ai-companies-are-buying-and-destroying-antique-books-heres-why/

This whole thing disgusts me. I'm a bibliophile and my home library has about 400 books including 35 autographed first editions and a few fanzines. (I attended an event featuring Roger Zelazny; when I approached him to sign some of the fanzines his response was along the lines of "I thought I acquired them all and destroyed them [sacrilege]" and offered a pretty penny to buy the ones I had. Not a chance.)

Dear Mike Johnson, You should happy about these radical socialists winning the primaries. If these new candidates from the left are so bad for the country, then that should make it an easier Nov election for your great team of candidates, right?

The GOP's candidates here are running against the people of the state and are calling us names. I don't think that is how elections work.

MRK's avatar

You remember how, for the last few weeks of the election, Harris's campaign was aimed at Republican voters? This is the right's version of that. They're hoping to scare Democratic voters away from voting for Democrats.

Here's hoping it's equally effective.

As the parent of an elementary schooler, to me this is an obvious capitalist grab for Panera brand awareness among families. Swear to god if you give my 8 year old one (1) slice of pizza or chicken finger from any company with big logos all over their packaging, my kid will beg to go there on a daily basis, for years. And mention it every time we drive by.

In re: "trans illegal aliens"

During World War I, anti-German sentiment ran high in Britain, and the royal family's German dynastic name (Saxe-Coburg-Gotha) became a public liability. H.G. Wells publicly attacked the monarchy, calling it an "alien and uninspiring" institution.

King George V deeply resented the accusation and commented: "I may be uninspiring, but I'll be damned if I'm alien."

"how many little American kids will be molested and/or raped by trans illegal aliens"?

Probably a lot fewer than if they had priests, pastors, and/or republicans running it.
