I had a shitty sleep and not nice dreams. Yuck. I also woke up morose; I get these lovely brochures from Viking (I took a Viking river cruise a few years ago and would do another) with all these beautiful pictures of Europe and can’t help but think things like “Well, that caught on fire” or “That river level is probably too low”. The status quo is gone; we need to adapt and I think the future will be a battle between nihilism and enabled breakdown and destruction in order for a few to lord it over whatever remains or the rest of us.
Yeah, Viking river cruises are quite nice. We did the "Cities of Light" cruise (Prague to Paris) last year and did Paris to Normandy this year. The service is great, the food is great, and the guides are really knowledgeable. Not sure if we will go on another (they are kind of pricy, and we're getting old), but definitely good.
We did the Cities of Light one! They really have their shit together too, they met is in Frankfurt to shuffle us towards customs and our connection to Prague; I was impressed.
Been to Prague and Moravia 3 times now. Most recently in May/June of this year. I have a huge crush on the place. Met folks with my name (the authentic version) and have friends now of the expat and locals variety. Would move there in a 1/2 second if not for my sweetie who likes her job here, and will like her retirement even better if she waits....
I know Prague better than I know any city anywhere. It helps that I am able to ride all local transports... bus, tram, and metro, free because of my Old Fart status.

There it'll be in the mid-60s. <sigh> For now... stuck inside. I love this for all of them.
A couple of observations ... first, they thought they could sell these magic beans based on the uptake of prior tech products, but they failed to see that the obscene money, the buying of politics, and the loss of trust in ANY tech company has destroyed their influence. The other is that they assumed that the majority of the US population is as gullible as the Orangini cult. We aren't.
And now they have turned EVERYONE against the tech-bro industries. Obviously, not all technology, but the most visible portions.
Ok start to my "ignore the DC race" staycation. Little tired, little headachy (there's rain rolling in later) but otherwise chill and happy to pretend none of the infrastructure havoc is being wreaked across the river right now.
