Tennessee Homophobe And New Wonket Coverboy Stacey Campfield Is A Real Weird Guy

News

This is what happens, Tennessee, when you keep going harder, fuller batshit: you end up electing real weird guys! Now more fun things are coming about your state senator Stacey Campfield, ofwhom we apparently just can't get enough! So what has Herr Campfield been up to lately, and/or several years ago? Oh, just yelling at constituents to get therapy/getting kicked out of University of Tennessee football games for belligerence and being "not right." We should probably learn more.

Let us begin with Senator Campfield yelling at his constituents, because that is just a great way to respond to constituent feedback. (Although sometimes it's fine! We have personally been yelled at by Barbara Boxer! Twice!)

Telisha Arguelles Chris Cobb (we assume you are two people signing one letter), what did you write to your senator?

Senator Campfield,

I am writing to you today as a mother, active citizen and born & raised Tennessean. You are an embarrassment to our great state. Folks all over the country and here in Tennessee are looking at the bills that you are proposing in shock. They are the most ignorant and morally lacking legislation that could be proposed this year. It is clear that you are targeting homosexuals and low income families with hogwash legislation. You need to search your heart, your values and your Christianity to find a better way to represent us as a whole. We will do everything in our power to make sure that you are not here in 2014. There are numerous grass roots parties that are making their voices heard.

Thanks

Telisha Arguelles Chris Cobb

Senator Campfield, how did you reply?

You seem to have some serious, deep anger issues. Have you ever thought about therapy? I hear they are doing some wonderful things with medications these days.

Yours in service,

Sen. Stacey Campfield

"Yours in service." Oh, "The_Sen," bless your heart.

Now let us find out whether perhaps "The_Sen" might have some serious, deep anger issues of his own!

OK, backstory: he was at a UT football game, on Halloween, but people were not allowed masks but he wore a mask anyway because rules do not apply to Stacey Campfield because freedom. His mask was a Mexican wrestler mask, and some little girls in his section were pissed (because they had not been allowed to wear masks) and scared (because Stacey Campfield is creepy enough without being a faceless man in a mask), and their mom complained to security, who asked him to remove his mask. Caught up? Here we go!

“I told him masks were not allowed in the stadium and told him he would have to take it off,” [UT Police Lt. Dana] McReynolds wrote. “He asked why and I again told him that masks were not allowed and he could either give the mask to me or take it off and put it away. Before I could finish my sentence he took off the mask and asked if he could keep it. I told him ‘yes’ and thanked him for complying.”

The officer noted that Campfield then re-entered the stadium area but went a different direction than his original seat.

“Curious about this odd behavior and concerned that he had misunderstood our interaction, I caught up with him in front of the concession stand in Section D,” McReynolds wrote. “I … began to tell him that I was not asking him to leave the section, just to take off his mask. Again … he interrupted and said, ‘I was just taking a walk. Is it illegal to walk around?’ I told him ‘no,’ and was surprised by his sudden confrontational attitude. … He again asked if walking around was illegal. I told him ‘no’ and again began to explain that he did not have to leave his seat, just take off the mask. He continued to ask if walking around was illegal. … Thinking that something was not right (he kept saying the same phrase over and over, would not make eye contact and kept shifting on his feet, left to right) I asked to see his ticket.”

When Campfield gave the officer his ticket, it was for Section LL, not Section B.

According to the report, the officer asked Campfield why he had not said he was going to his correct seat, and he said again, “I told you I was walking around. Is it illegal to walk around?”

“After five or six attempts at explaining this to him, I told the man I was not going to play word … games with him,” the officer wrote. “He had violated the mask policy, was in the wrong section and was being argumentative and uncooperative.”

According to the narrative, McReynolds asked for the man’s identification, wrote his Tennessee driver’s license number on his ticket and, along with another officer, escorted him from the stadium.

“While walking to the exit, he kept repeating over and over that he was just walking around and when did it become illegal to walk around,” McReynolds wrote. “The man never became violent, and neither myself nor (the other officer) touched the man.”

Well we are probably lucky he did not Stand His Stadium nor water the University of Tennessee's Tree of Liberty with the blood of UT police tyrants. Because dude sounds fucking off.

The GOP-controlled Senate held a sham vote for the Green New Deal Tuesday. It was an entirely political spectacle. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wanted to publicly divide Democrats and rally the conservative base while depressing the liberal one. McConnell only cares about power and the fossil fuel donors who keep him in it. He's a cynical sack of garbage.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who co-sponsored the Green New Deal, actually believes in things. It annoys her when Republicans can only manage weak-ass political stunts in response to climate change, which is both a real and a serious threat. During a House committee hearing prior to the Senate's travesty of a mockery of a sham vote, "Real World" alum and Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy basically dismissed environmentalism as an "elitist" pursuit.

DUFFY: If you're a rich liberal from maybe New York or California, [the Green New Deal] sounds great because you can afford to retrofit your home or build a new home that has zero emissions, that's energy efficient.

The current president is a billionaire from New York, but Republicans are still pushing the "limousine liberal" narrative. Yes, only "rich liberals" from the land of Jews and queers care about climate change. Meanwhile, rich conservatives go sport hunting and send rhinos back to God postage due.

It's getting more and more difficult these days, what with the never-ending stream of mass murders, to adamantly oppose common sense gun control laws. Even the NRA is taking a step back and keeping its dumb mouth shut when it comes to Democrat-led votes on background checks and other gun control measures.

And Republicans are not very happy about it.

Why? Because they've got a bit of a symbiotic relationship with the NRA, whom they count on to rally public opinion against gun control laws and also give them a bit of cover for voting against them. Democrats propose gun control laws, the NRA asks its members to call up their representatives to say they're against it, and then those representatives get to say, "It's just what the public wants." That's how things are supposed to work.

One anonymous Republican lawmaker from a "solidly red district" complained to the National Journal that without the NRA pushing its members to call and complain, he now gets an equal amount of calls from those who are for and against these laws, and that's just not right! How is he supposed to pretend that the public is opposed to gun control laws if the NRA is not out there trying to make it look that way?
