There are so many Sci Fi books written about how A.I. can go wrong ... my favorite is "Mockingbird" by Walter Tevis. Nobody on Earth has had toasters for years, and the main character accidentally finds out why - the factory where robots make all the Earth's toasters has had a glitch in the production line, and the robots weren't programmed to fix glitches, so none of the toasters they make will work and the the Quality Control robot throws them all way. The human character fixes the glitch, and suddenly the word has toasters again.
Quite a few human beings aren't programmed to fix glitches either, so there is that.
