There are so many Sci Fi books written about how A.I. can go wrong ... my favorite is "Mockingbird" by Walter Tevis. Nobody on Earth has had toasters for years, and the main character accidentally finds out why - the factory where robots make all the Earth's toasters has had a glitch in the production line, and the robots weren't programmed to fix glitches, so none of the toasters they make will work and the the Quality Control robot throws them all way. The human character fixes the glitch, and suddenly the word has toasters again.
Quite a few human beings aren't programmed to fix glitches either, so there is that.
I was there, being a Serious Judge as usual. Lots of great marching groups and bands (as always). Luckily, the tractor that threw a wheel (not just a mere flat tire, the entire wheel fell off) was near the end of the parade, so it didn't hold things up that much.....
I was over to babysit my niece (10) tonight for a couple of hours, and when my bro-in-law came back from changing clothes and had talked to her, he came out and said, "she just told me 'I miss Uncle B" which was both funny, since I was there and heart melting too. I'm supposed to go along with them next month to a family wedding on my BIL's side and nanny her for a day while they go to the ceremony and the reception. So we'll have a fun day together, I'm sure.

"...o della madre, mia casa gioconda. La Wally ne andro' da te, da te, lontano assai..."
are you referring to the "...hiney, all bright and shiny"?
(still mad at him for the Iraq war cheerleading)

Had a gray kitteh named Kanga. He was a good fella and loved to watch people do ... whatever it was people were doing.
I think it's from an episode of the West Wing, actually. Some staffer saw it and told The Dotard he'd look smart if he said it.
