My first degree was in political science, so I've researched the voting rights struggle too. Getting that degree did exactly zero for the voting rights struggle.

Rallying, organizing, phone banking, marching, contributing money and VOTING OTOH makes a difference. That's my point.

Rallying, organizing, phone banking, marching, contributing money and VOTING OTOH makes a fucking difference.

She sounds pretty confident that the blue wave is going to happen, and it may not. That was my point. We shouldn't assume the best case scenario before it happens.

I wasn't saying that we should not be hopeful, but we have to treat this election as one that we might lose, otherwise we will increase the chances that our side will lose.

That was my point.

All western forests are doomed, from Arizona to British Columbia. Between drought/global warming and the bark beetles, it is a matter of time before they simply die or are burned up in catastrophic fires. One prediction I have read is that biomes in the west will transform...what it now the highest vegetation-firs, aspen, meadow-will become struggling pine forests. What is now the vast pine forest will be scrub pine, piñon, juniper etc. Good times.

Also too, what are the chances the owners of these McMcansions are Republicans who whinge about big government but who will scream bloody murder if the Forest Service doesn't risk lives to save their fucking property from a fire? Pretty high, I'd guess.
