Indeed. The rhetoric though is pure 1980s. If Roe is overturned, and already in the terrible states, it’s really not time for ‘natural’ contraception.

True. Except for these two things, Toronto isn’t close enough to the border. Fort Erie is the Canadian city closest to Buffalo. And loads of middle-class women don’t have the kind of cash and ability to get time off from work to go to the abortion resorts. Not just poor. Anybody not rich. Thinking of professionals who make good money but work 70 hours a week, and anybody who owns a house but is cash poor. Though some of them would be able to pay for the motel in Illinois or Ontario but by digging deep into their savings. Obviously they would, if you can’t afford either because of health or life circumstances to have a baby the abortion isnt optional.

Theocratic devil judges.

I like the yanking people off the court idea.

In case anybody’s interested, Canadian Supreme Court has term limits. 18 years I believe. Don’t know if it has an age maximum.

Of course it would not! This ‘abortion is evil and the abortion people are’ evil is part of their fascist rile up the public ideology. The right wing justices all know they’re ignoring their oath and just imposing their political will on the people. They probably sit around and laugh about it with their friends.

I’m sure millions of women are ready to. And I think it will work, so long as we have real tacticians and not the Democratic party leadership with their weird notions of quietism and politeness being some essential feature of political change.

I was stunned that it was actually a quilt, and not a painting.

Zounds! Just all of it. Yes Amy sounds like an idiot. The DNA testing on ancestry isn’t like the DNA testing the police use! There is no reason to think you and your sisters would have ever found out. I agree with you completely that it’s your mothers story and you and your grown-up siblings aren’t part of it. Unless she wanted to make you part of it and she did not. Sparing you information about her suffering. I can also appreciate it must really suck for the adopted person to know that their birth came about by accident and they weren’t wanted. I have no idea what that’s like. Seems to me it would help, although not be pain free, to understand the positions women are frequently put in. No money, shitty biological father of the fetus. I would think if an adopted kid could have sympathy for that it would help them let go of the biological parent as something they think will help them.

Weird aside, there was an angry adopted person who contacted his birth mother in the spirit of hostility and misogyny who was a forensic pathologist that lied and got all these people wrongly sent to prison in the deaths of children who died of natural causes. Super famous thing in Canada. Dr. Charles Smith. (Not suggesting he’s typical of adoptees, he was unique in his evilness, this just made me remember him.)

Exactly. This is the kind of stuff that actually happens, beyond all the political rhetoric.

Exactly. It’s 18 years in Canada.

Like male ostriches do! Also he talks about destroying the sea turtle egg. And they love that term “pre-born“ for fetuses. If you’re an egg laying species once the egg is out of mom you’ve been fucking born! Egg creatures gestate in a little ovoid bag. They get born and THEN the fetus grows. And later they hatch. It’s a great design, none of that heavy proto-infant inside your body you have to haul around. Imagine if humans did that. You’d have to be responsible for the egg, but not risk your body getting torn up giving birth or getting preeclampsia. Men could be full participants in caring for the gestating creature. There would be the spoke *egg warmers*. But there also might be obnoxious hatching parties. Thinking like gender reveal ones. 🦅 🐣

I love this rant.😍 But they wanted to overturn Roe and use pregnancy/fertility as a cudgel beat women with for antediluvian ideological reasons since the 70s. The thing you’re talking about is just a bonus.

So sorry about your husband, that really sucks. On crafts, consider weaving. Making woven crafts, versus cloth for clothing, is super easy. You can even make a loom out of corrugated cardboard, videos on YouTube, to try it out without spending a whole lot of money. And you get to buy and play with a lovely lovely yarn! Which incidentally you can dye with food coloring.😃 Has to be real wool though.

Oh yes, I think that needs to make an appearance on about a million T-shirts.
