I saw clips someone had posted on Twitter of Fucker Carlson going absolutely berserk that he became "political" — as if Trump doesn't make EVERYFUCKINGTHING political all of the time.
He, and anyone else bitching about Obama "getting political" in the eulogy for a beloved civil rights hero, can kiss my ass.
And it came true again this summer. We see it outside our windows in big cities and rural towns. In men and women; young and old; straight Americans and LGBTQ Americans; Blacks, who long for equal treatment, and whites, who can no longer accept freedom for themselves while witnessing the subjugation of their fellow Americans.
At the mention of "whites, who can no longer accept freedom for themselves while witnessing the subjugation of their fellow Americans," the audience at the funeral stood and applauded.
I was moved. After hundreds of years of atrocities, these mostly Black mourners could still celebrate white people of good conscience. It's more than we deserve, but I am glad.
You know, this country is a constant work in progress. We're born with instructions: to form a more perfect union. Explicit in those words is the idea that we're imperfect.
That's so... perfect. And apply to anyone's feelings about their own country.
This is that true patriotism should be like. Not claiming that one's country is already the greatest on Earth, but working toward making it so.
“Imagine if some greasy politician showed up at your loved one's funeral and started throwing around stupid partisan talking points about Senate procedure. Can you imagine that?” -- Fucker Carlson
Imagine worshipping a sitting president who is so loathed that no one wants him around, even after they were dead. Can you imagine that.
Damn that Mr.Hawaii Guy & his cursed onion peeling!
You forgot non-American ...

No I'll still call them political assholes.
I wasn't fond of Herman Cain, but even he doesn't deserve that.
That was the best moment of the eulogy for me.
I loved when James Lawson (I think it was?...) set the table for Bamz by saying "There's no reason to be bipartisan when eulogizing John Lewis".

It doesn't seem to be random at all, but rather a desired, indeed demanded, change.
