Chauvin must go to prison. Floyd’s death was so senseless and unnecessary, but if Chauvin is convicted my hope is that it sends a message that murdering minorities won’t be tolerated and could help save other lives. It will also shine a light on the dangerous cops who shouldn’t have a badge, because good cops have nothing to fear if Chauvin is convicted. It’s the cruel cops who will protest a conviction.
15 - 20 or years ago, a local on-duty cop with less than a year's experience managed to get himself killed by rolling his cop SUV at 35 mph while not wearing a seatbelt. They still memorialize the schmuck as some sort of hero with a street named after him and a "charity" golf tournament every year.
Chauvin is going down for sure. I don't think there's a single person left who would think he was innocent after that week of witness testimony.
The question that the jury needs to be asked is this: would George Floyd be alive today were it not for his encounter with Derek Chauvin? I think the answer is undoubtedly yes.
But oh, my God, don't juries do some things that blow your mind and empty your stomach, like the beating of an undercover police officer by fellow officers. They got off.
I only have heard a few seconds of audio, and not by choice. I could never, ever watch it. I can't watch the Capitol riots either. It kind of bothers me that I'm turning into someone who can't even watch any movie sequence in which animals are harmed, even something from long ago. I won't watch The Misfits because of a suffering animal. Stopped reading Black Boy by Richard Wright because of animal cruelty. I don't like it that I'm like this.

I've only watched it once, and that was more than enough.

It's what cops and cop lovers ALWAYS say.
In 2020, more died of Covid.

Yeah, the irony of squalling about masks while removing your sneakers at the gate.
I heard of a cop who had to kill a guy when she accidentally entered his apartment.
That's really odd, because when I lived in Minneapolis in the 70s and 80s there was a big grocery called CUB Foods.
It's said that they are not unions as much as . . . militant protection rackets.
"I can do this . . . "

On the contrary, they very well might leave him with his shoelaces and nail clippers.
He was no angel!
I was just saying this today. He's toast.
