And then they buried the miniscule amount of Holocaust coverage they ran in the back pages in favor of war coverage? Pepperidge Farm remembers. (And there were plenty of foreign correspondents waving red flags; I highly recommend reading 'Last Call at the Hotel Imperial' by Deborah Cohen.)

I remember folks saying Trump was a fascist and then perpetual colllege sophmores who've just declared poli sci saying "Well, acstualllyy..." Good times.
Trump/Maga 2.0 would be a living nightmare. But I’m guessing the voter turnout will be the highest ever, probably by a lot. It’s cute that some polls and pundits support the fantasy that a Trump conviction will cost him votes. Haven’t we all been paying attention? Trump is like an evil Obi-Wan Kenobi, if you strike him down, he will only become more powerful than you can imagine. His supporters are entranced, enraptured, and hopelessly spellbound by his cult of personality. They are voting for him, lock, stock and barrel. Our best chance is even better turnout than 2020. We want 90 million votes for Biden, whether you embrace Biden or not, to prevent another period of chaos far uglier than round 1.
As I keep trying to point out, he's gonna have a hard time pulling this off from his DC or GA prison cell. And before that, he'll be spending most of his days sitting quietly in a court room in DC and ATL while juries made up of this vermin he describes convict him of dozens of felonies and sentence him to spend the remainder of his sad sad days in whatever confinement we can come up with for a former "president" who tries to overthrow the government and steals its secrets to sell to our enemies (allegedly!).
We are not Weimar. We know who Hitler was. We outnumber the billionaires and they about to FAFO.

The last thing the neo Confederate majority/ plurality of MAGA wants is an actually strong executive branch. The only thing they expect or need from this is a trigger for a civil war where all they have to do is walk out while everyone else is killing each other.
