Right now, as we don't have healthy campaign finance rules, only wealthy people (or people funded by wealthy people) can afford to run. Increasing the number of available seats is a valid idea for improving representation. That said, campaign finance reform, including the removal of PACs and other forms of unrestrained bribery should be eliminated.
That said, I am at a loss as to how to make those changes happen. The people with the power to make those changes have a strong rationale to dig in their heels and retain the status quo.
Rosendale is an oik who has now idea of where Mexico or Ukraine might be. He MIGHT know where Canada is. He's a prime carpetbagger - claiming residency in Maryland (for a tax benny) while running for office in Montana.
The bills, introduced by Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-Montana) and Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-North Carolina) are meant to put the brutal invasion of Ukraine into what the sponsors appear to believe is the proper perspective.
Aside from the obvious abject stupidity and cruelty, it's extra absurd this trash is coming from two dumbasses who represent areas thousands of miles from the US/Mexico border.
Because we coddle them. Nobody corrects them, nobody challenges them to either face their racism or keep quiet ...
... and when the difference between coverage of the war in Ukraine and the wars in the Middle East - all in places where Putin has interfered -- has to be pointed out by people who look like the people adversely affected, while the harsher treatment of African students trying to leave Ukraine is being ignored while white-presenting people are offered every possible version of aid (not saying they should not receive it, before anyone jumps on that - quite the opposite, it's that EVERYONE trying to escape should receive aid and NOT JUST WHITE PEOPLE) -- and that kind of biased coverage is allowed to continue to merrily parade across the pages and screens of virtually every White Western-controlled mainstream media source without a breath --
not enough White people care enough about the difference in treatment to challenge it ... even as it will affect us all eventually (and if you don't believe THAT, check out what's going on in the primaries right now down in Texas ... and don't stop at "Republicans are outvoting Democrats" ... ask WHY Democrats were not permitted to vote in precincts where Republicans were allowed to go right ahead).
So far, having the TX National Guard doing border patrol has worked out fine. At least six suicides, drug and alcohol abuse, lack of equipment, soldiers not getting paid...good job, Greg Abbott!
Even worse is the pearl clutching over Russian shelling of downtown Kiev. WHICH IS FUCKING BAD AND WRONG!
However, the media seems to forget that we bombed downtown Bagdad for days in a campaign called "Shock & Awe", killing thousands of civilians, ruining infrastructure which hasn't recovered in the decades since then and creating a lasting shit pile in one of civilization's oldest settlements. But the victims were Arabs and the perps were us so no biggie.
