I'm comforted that the demonization campaign isn't working. There was a surprise drag show at a shit-kicker bar full of Bush era Republicans in the buckle of the Bible belt and the one asshole was run off and barred from the bar.
Props! Loved this movie! Also too, let us not forget the Oz version… The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert with Guy Pearce, Hugo Weaving, and Terence Stamp. IIRC To Wong Foo was either a remake or was at least inspired by the aforementioned (certainly could be wrong about this).
I learned about this film from an LGBTQ+ YouTuber named James Somerton. He's got some pretty good-to-great content focused on LGBTQ+ film history, and it's thanks to him that this film (among several others) is now on my watch list.
I think that Priscilla features quite a bit more violence toward the main characters. Like a lot of non-American cinema, it’s not as happily-ever-after as we like things to be (although the ending might very well be happy, I’m only basing my comments on what I’ve read about the movie, since I never really watch movies).
This was pre-Marvel Cinematic Universe, but aren't drag queens basically superheroes? They have secret identities, and the costumes are just as fierce.
Plus if you see spotlights in the sky one might be performing shortly.
"The Birdcage" was another great one that starred one of the most talented, and beloved, people to have ever tred on this earth.Nathan Lane was also at a high level of awesomeness, and he-man Gene Hackman wore a dress and pink wig.It also had a message ... and Agador Spartacus!
Agador : Armand, why don't you let me be in the show? Are you afraid of my Guatemalan-ness?Armand : Your what?Agador : My Guatemalan-ness, my natural heat. You're afraid I'm too primitive to be on the stage with your little estrogen Rockettes, right?Armand : You're right. I'm afraid of your heat.
“Priscilla Queen of the Desert”, also too.

Before 'To Wong Fu' there was Poison and the New York Dolls.

Fun fact: Part of the movie was filmed in the sleepy little burg of Loma, Nebraska. Along with Omaha and Lincoln.
Nah, they were two completely separate projects. But they did come out around the same time (see what I did there?).

Jayne County
Also, Arby's was fined $12 billion for existing.
I remember watching this with my daughter when she was young. I guess that makes me a groomer! It's a great movie with real heart!
Hell, there was Milton Berle, Flip Wilson, Bugs Bunny.... Not to mention Rudy Giuliani. I could go on.
Or Wayne County. Depending on the day, I guess.
And let us not forget Lou Reed.
