I think they were afraid of Trump's cousin marrying, drooling idiot base, rising up against them. I'm still hoping that Trump manages to rip the GOP in half. It would be the only good thing he'd ever done. I'd consider him a decent president if he managed to split that party in to two groups - the insane, and the truly insane.

I get that, I really do... and it's completely reasonable to disagree over policy, but the reflexive sliming of anyone who takes a position even slightly to the right of the Sainted Bernard gets right up my fucking nose.
