I know people that aren't making it in 1-bedroom apartments with a job and driving Uber or Spark on the side. Even for people that want marriage and kids, how is anyone supposed to afford it these days?

They've also rejiggered the way in which grant funding is allocated so that communities with higher per capita income get more favorably reviewed than communities with lower incomes. Which means that suburban areas are far more likely to get federal grants than those filthy nasty cities.
