Not really OT Just finished Jess Walters' new book, "The Cold Millions". Set in 1910 Spokane: labour strife, police corruption, and rich men outraged when they can't control absolutely everything. Recommended.

I'm beginning to think that McTurtle may have done the country a favor by blocking Garland's nomination, as much as that sucked balls. As AG, Garland might be able to make more of an impact on the law than he would have made on the Court. In any case, having him in this position will surely help to advance the cause of civil rights and rule of law, which is a major step forward.

Investigate the entire law enforcement structure in Louisville, Ky., and Brunswick, Ga, that tried to sweep the murder of a black guy under the rug.

was the bar on consent decrees just for law enforcement or did they leave in place existing ones? because TX has been under a consent decree with Judge Janis Jack's court regarding our foster care programs this whole time.

This is exactly what we need in Minneapolis, and the whole state of Minnesota.

Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo talks a good game, but it was under his watch that Derek Chauvin was a training officer. Chauvin was involved in the Floyd case because Officers Keung and Lane were rookies Chauvin was training in. Arradondo can posture virtuously that Chauvin's murdering of Floyd violated training, and that is an obvious lie; because Chauvin was the trainer.

Arradondo is the ally, perhaps the only remaining ally, of Mayor Jacob Frey; our utterly feck- and gorm-free Justin Trudeau impersonator. Frey seems to believe that the only way to deal with a crisis caused by the failure of societal institutions is to put those institutions in charge of fixing the crisis caused by their own failure.

This is why Frey just yesterday vetoed an action of our Park Board. For a while now, the Minneapolis Park Board has set up a workspace in their office for the Minnesota State Patrol. Troopers could stop in, use the bathroom, and file reports etc. Last summer, Minnesota State Troopers attacked a CNN news crew on global TV, firing plastic bullets at them at point-blank range and pepper-spraying them while they were lying prone and spread-eagled. Just a week ago, Minnesota State Troopers attacked another CNN crew, and while arresting them screamed racist crap at the Asian-American on-air talent.

So the Park Board revoked the privilege they had granted the State Troopers, to use Park Board property as a courtesy. Frey vetoed that, with sneering scorn.

Also yesterday, the state Police Officers Standards and Training board (POST) issued new guidelines discouraging law-enforcement personnel from being members of racist hate groups.

That's a new guideline??!!??

I can't wait for Frey to object to that, too. The only supporters he has left are cops and other misanthropes hated by the people of Minneapolis.

Frey is running for re-election this fall. I almost think he deserves another term. Whoever is Mayor is going to twist agonizingly in the wind, as the rot and corruption and vicious stench in the Minneapolis Police Department is laid bare. Frey deserves that. Nobody else deserves that.

Frey timidly tried to ban Minneapolis cops from taking "Bulletproof Warrior" and "Killology Institute" training seminars. The union laughed in his face and paid the fees for cops to take such training. Frey did nothing. Not. A. Thing.

The DOJ better bring a lunch, because there's a lot for them to uncover. Hell, disgusting stuff isn't even covered. The cops higher-up in the union are all involved in massive tax fraud, too. Derek Chauvin was hiding at least $100,000 a year in cash-under-the-table income. When he was fired and charged, he and his wife worked out a scheme where she would divorce him and he would agree to give him all their assets, which included bank accounts and a few houses. The divorce judge smelled a rat and didn't allow that; we'll see where that ends up. Chauvin isn't alone. A number of Minneapolis cops claim residency in Florida, so as not to pay MN Income Tax. They're all hiding cash income from off-duty work sourced through the Union. They're all in on it. Arradondo knows about it, and since he's in charge, it's his fault. Frey is Arradondo's boss, so he's guilty too.

Then there are the state laws, initiated by the Minneapolis cops and supported and enacted by racist rural MN legislators.

Yeah, Merrick Garland has his work cut out for him. If he goes easy on these bastards, the violence we saw after Chauvin murdered George Floyd will be remembered as "The Good Old Days."

Since you're at the bottom of the thread I'll tell you that I donated $50 to theDarnella Frazier scholarship fund as I just got my monthly SS money.

Not mentioning to brag, just hoping others will think about it, but no problems if people can't afford things these days.

Just want everybody to be well and happy and hope that we can in any we can do it, try to change things for the better.

Take care and be well.

The fact that Chauvin got away with this shit before really emphasizes the importance of Darnella Frazier's video. If she hadn't had the presence of mind to record the whole thing, he probably would have gotten away with it. That bogus report that ascribed Floyd's death as a "medical incident" would have been the official story. Without that video, none of the officers who testified against him would have had the courage to to cross the blue line.

She deserves some kind of recognition for her heroism.

Frey timidly tried to ban Minneapolis cops from taking "Bulletproof Warrior" and "Killology Institute" training seminars. That sort of training should be banned by the DOJ. "Killology Institute"? Really? You're not supposed to be soldiers on a fucking battlefield, you're supposed to be public fucking servants there to serve the public. Christ on a cracker.
