My wife and I lived on the Maine/New Brunswick border for a time in the 90's. A local folk band had a song about the "smuggling." The chorus went "As we pass the customs shack, we all shout 'nothing back.'"
Once US Customs knew you and your car, they waved you through. We called it "The Downeast Drive-by." If they did stop you, they packed heat and were quite stern.
The Canadians always stopped you, and asked "Any alcohol, tobacco, or firearms." We bought beer in Maine, like the locals, and we quickly learned to dissemble. When my sis-in-law failed to remember the briefing and copped to it, they inspected us.
They had small badges, no guns, and were very polite and downright friendly. Once, the officer offered us a kitten, which we had to decline.
This was my thought also too... he clearly spent more on gas than he saved in taxes, and that's even before calculating what he spent on meals and incidentals.
I guess it just goes to show...doofuses gotta doof.
Splitting the Western allies has been a running theme of this "presidency". Backing out of the Paris Agreement, publicly lambasting the other members of NATO, grenading the JCPOA, leaving the G7 early, sabotaging the NAFTA talks, hanging South Korea and Japan out to dry with the NK Singapore summit, even leaving the UN Human Rights Commission. All these actions serve the same underlying purpose.
Maybe Doug Ford will end up redirecting JT's marijuana revenue, perhaps during Infrastructure Week, after kidnapping some baby beavers for ransom.... ehh any moment now
I think that some of the toll roads are owned or partly owned by Canadian workers pension funds such as Ontario teachers.
Small world.

Both of those get right up my nose, as does the ritual abuse of the word "enormity." It does NOT mean biggishness, folks.
Ha ha no, of course not, she's probably white.

I don’t know if I can do it with baby beaver blood money.
No doubt about it.
The silence from Capitol hill is deafening about this. Why??

Could be. An attempt to split to west would be understandable.
If so........treason

Putin told him to do it.
We should build a wall and make Americans pay for it! Aaaaaand my brain is broken also!
We British Columbians buy gas in the states.

Everything else is almost not worth it.
Indeed.
